Ong's Restaurant Ltd - Sussex

I want to share my deep disappointment with my recent visit to Ongs. The Curried Beef dish I ordered was not satisfying at all. The pot of curry had very little meat and sauce, mostly filled with undercooked vegetables. It left me wanting a more balanced and flavorful combination. The small amount of beef provided was tasteless, and the lack of sauce made the dish dry and unappetizing. Even the honey pork ribs did not meet expectations – they lacked the honey flavor and juiciness I had hoped for. The rice that came with the meal was bland and did not complement the curry or ribs. This experience made me question Ongs' culinary standards, especially in the lively food scene of Nova Scotia. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Ongs after this disappointing visit. The lack of meat and sauce in the curry dish, along with the overall lack of taste, were major letdowns. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback into consideration and makes improvements to provide a better dining experience for its customers. Until then, my visit to Ongs was disappointing.

The food here was amazing before, but now everything tastes identical. The chow mein is always served in a clamshell container, making it messy to transport. Despite mentioning this issue multiple times, it has never been resolved. We have decided to say goodbye to Ongs and start ordering from Fancy instead.

Fried rice and chow mein ok, egg roll was soggy because it was placed beside the chow mein but tasted ok. Chicken balls were the worst. The chicken inside was tiny, maybe 1cmx1cm if that and the rest was chewy doughy batter. The sauce was runny and had a different flavour of orange. The food came fast and was hot which was really good because we were in a large group and there was another large table there as well. The worst part of the whole thing was how freezing it was in there! I am not a cold person but I had to eat with my winter coat on and so did my whole party. Not enjoyable and awkward to eat when you’re bundled up. Wont be back.

We eat at this restaurant quite frequently mainly due to the great tasting , high quality of food. The service is always fast and the combination plates are very plentiful hot and delicious. I have ordered the almond chicken guy ding and it is absolutely fabulous. We have always has friendly and fast service. We have eaten at other Chinese Food Restaurants however we always return to this one as it is leaps and bounds better than most others. Highly recommend this restaurant.

My husband, myself and 4 of our kids had dinner here today. The food was bland, my hot and sour soup had frozen mixed vegetables in it. They were out of certain dishes and so offered to make substitutes on their combination plates.......so instead of getting chow mein, we were supposed to get extra rice or extra chicken balls ......well that was a joke! Very disappointing for the money. And to top it off, the waitress came by once to ask us how our food was......she didn 't even wait for an answer, just said ok, great and walked away. We will definitely never be back. Don 't waste your money at Ong 's!!
