Rogue Cafe - Surry Hills

I recently paid a visit to Essenza Italian with my girlfriend as part of the dimmi 50% off campaign and we were delighted with our choices! I had the gorgonzola gnocchi with roasted pumpkin and she had the pulled pork lasagna. The place opens at 6pm sharp and because we were early, we had to wait out in the street for a little while. The wait, however, was certainly worth it and by the time we finished dinner the place was full.The only complaint I have is that I found the American Express restaurant friendly sign slightly misleading since we were slapped with a $1.50 surcharge (more than 6% surcharge with respect to the bill total). For comparison, most places in Sydney charge 3% AMEX surcharge at most, if at all! While adding another dollar or two to the bill didn't break my bank balance, I certainly wouldn't classify this place as AMEX friendly!I'd go back in the future, but most likely pay using a different card.Grazie.

Too bad that was a special and not on regular menu. It should be a regular. One of those better than sex moments. It was a veal and pork ragu. The garlic bread and bread/cold cuts platter was ok. I had written this visit off after this but the pasta rescued the night. Didn't get a full coke as I saw her put my can back in the fridge. (That sort of place so you know) really didn't like the look of other dishes that came out.

We had a lovely meal last night at essenza in surry hills had two starters fresh warm bread and green olives both delicious for mains we had spaghetti and meat balls and a seafood spaghetti both were superb with quality pasta, overall a great meal and great service !

Have been here twice recently and great both times. Zucchini flower entree fantastic special and really like the meatballs. The dessert bananas are pretty good too. Good service and comfortable atmosphere. We managed to eat 3 courses (shared entree) and a bottle of wine between 3 people and come out at around $65, pretty good!

This was an amazing experience! The host made us feel special, even at the busiest time, the range of food was fantastic and I could not fault it - beautiful taste and presentation second to none. A buzzing atmosphere and a beautiful setting. All I'd say is get there!
