Golden Lion Restaurant (1992) Ltd

Was very pleased when I asked for no msg - her reply was that they never put MSG in their food which was wonderful It triggers migraines for me so this was a treat.The meal for one ( three choices ) had more than enough food to enjoy. I also ordered a large bowl of rice for $3.00 and it was a generous portion.It has been a long time since we ate Chinese food out and I know we will return here sometime. You could also tell by the crowds in the restaurant that there is a lot of repeat visitors. Plenty of seniors in there which is a good sign.

Our dishes were prepared well and were tasty. The waitress was very friendly. Is it a 5-star type restaurant? No, but it offers a good meal in generous portions. The place was pretty busy when we went on a weekday at 6 PM.

My wife phoned in an order and I picked it up on the way home. I arrived and asked for the take out order and stated my name. The gentleman "used very loosely" said they did not take names what was my phone number. I gave him my phone number. Was not under my number, gave him my wife's number was not under her number (they had written it down incorrectly). He asked what I ordered I was unsure, he again asked for a phone number I gave my wife's he again said wrong it was one number off. Finally I convinced him it was my order only to have him say it was the only take out order he had. it was either give it to me or keep it I would go elsewhere. Hindsight that's what I should have done. I got it home, the food was sooooo greasy we could not et it, the fried rice was dripping with grease, the worst food I have had so far in BC.

Love this restuarant, staff is always friendly and pleasent. Food is always fresh and piping hot. Highly recommend for Canadian Style Chinese Food/

Took some friends to the Golden Lion. It has been a few years since I last was there and I remembered it as a place with tasty , reasonably priced food. The place is looking shabby and was very chilly. We ordered dinner for 3 and were all disappointed with the quality of the food. The chow mien was simply gummy noodles with not much added, the vegetables had a gooey sauce. My polite company said that is was not the best Chinese food they had ever had and I was embarrassed to have taken them there. I will not be going to the Golden Lion again. The only plus side was the pleasant waitress.
