What a pleasant surprise to experience this beestro! Upon walking in there is a koi pond & roomy seat setting with lots of tables some with wooden bench seats, the others with metal chairs. They have cushions for your tush if you so desire. I had the seasonal rustic vegetable sandwich, my friend the artichoke & pesto panini & we both had the pumpkin chai latte. We were delighted with our meals & drinks..and further indulged by sharing the spiced honey date cake that was to 'die for' in fact I ordered one to go! The staff were welcoming both in the restaurant & the store, the latter of which sells every flavor of honey imaginable. The only thing I would suggest is to 'warm' up the ambiance with some colors, maybe some fabric on the benches & flowers? Otherwise what a great find, planning my next visit now!
I already love the Honeybee Centre for their great products and for their tours/education/facility. I've been wanting to go to the Beestro for awhile now and finally had a chance this week. I took my best friend out for a day of adventure and we stopped at Fry's Corner Beestro for lunch. First, I love the honeycomb wood paneling on the walls and the industrial (metal/wood) interior. There was a lot to choose from on the menu - we ended up with the brie & chicken panini (me) and off the fresh sheet, their peach salad. Both were delicious. We noted that they also offer High Tea anytime and they have a gluten-free option as well! There were so many other things I wanted to try on the menu so I know I'll be back. It was such a lovely experience from the service to the food, to the decor and finally the honey cupcake we finished our meal with. They offer a kids menu and we were able to use a Mobile Bandit coupon for buy one entree and get one free. I will come back with my husband, my kids, my nieces, my friends, my Mom...you get the idea, it has wide appeal. Support this local gem!
Went for lunch. Had the strawberry salad - excellent! Then shared the honeycomb scone...with devon cream, drizzled with warm honey...amazing!! Good coffee...lots of tea options. They also serve high tea. Not fancy inside...basic tables and chairs, but clean and comfortable...good service. There is an "all things honey" store attached and they do tours and beekeeping demonstrations.
I have passed by hundreds of times since this delightful Bistro (Beestro as it is cleverly named). I always felt they should open a coffee shop or eatery here as it is a perfect location. It is part of the Honeybee Centre on the corner of Fraser Highway & 176th street in Surrey (Fry's Corner as we remember it ~ hence the name).Today I decided to stop in for wee visit and some lunch AND I was not disappointed. The Bistro is not fancy in furnishings but everything is is clean and tidy.If I may suggest, this might be an area for improvement ~ perhaps adding a bit of colour on the seat cushions or even a single flower in a bud vase on the table (beside the honey) After all, bees love flowers! However, the amazing food more than makes up for the decor. Compliments to the Chef!I had a wonderful BLTA - that's a BLT with avocado. Everything was so freshand absolutely yummy! Loved the lite honey mustard dressing. The BLTA is done 'panini' style and served with your choice of salad or choice of two different soups.I chose the mushroom soup and it was served in a good size bowl and was also delicious.I noticed they also serve High Tea with a huge selection of items that please anyone. All the staff are welcoming and friendly. You are welcomed as soon as you come through the door at the Honeybee Centre. My server at the Bistro was also very friendly and attentive.I look forward to enjoying another meal here. This 'Bistro' is a perfect compliment to the Honeybee centre where they offer honey from around the world; host tours and are just a wealth of information about the benefits of honey.Check it out if you are in the area ~ you won't be disappointed. You may want to browse their website before you go ~ just to see what they have to offer ~ you wouldn't want to miss anything. Make it a family outing ~ a great learning experience for the little ones ~ they will be fascinated. They are open from 9 a.m. to 7p.m. It is a little difficult to access the entrance if you are travelling on 176th but easy if going West on Fraser Highway. That said ... you will be happy you make the effort ~ ENJOY!
