Wasabi Superior

I walked in at 2:20 PM, and by the time we got through the drink order, it was 2:31 PM. At that point, I was informed that it was too late to order from the lunch menu, which I found quite frustrating. The food was decent—not terrible, but also nothing spectacular considering the portion sizes and prices. I had really been looking forward to trying this place, so it was a bit disappointing.

As we looked around, we noticed that three couples who had arrived after us were already enjoying their appetizers and sushi rolls. When we expressed our concerns to the waitress, she told us that the sushi was taking longer than usual and that the other tables had only received appetizers. However, I clearly saw those tables getting their sushi, so I knew that wasn't accurate. We chose to let it go, hoping that drawing attention to the delay would speed things up. Eventually, we received our food after about a 50-minute wait for our three rolls, which was frustrating since we had seen others get two rounds of sushi while we were left waiting. When the sushi arrived, it was okay, but honestly, I found the sushi at Cloud Nine in Canal Park to be far superior. One issue I noticed was that all of our sushi was slightly mushy and seemed soggy compared to the nicely thick seaweed at Cloud Nine, which held its shape better; ours fell apart each time we tried to pick it up. While the taste was decent, as we were finally enjoying our meal, my niece discovered a hair in her California roll. My mom had a previously bad experience with a hair in her food, so she immediately lost her appetite. I was pretty grossed out but managed to finish my last two bites. My mom called the waitress over to inform her about the hair, but we received a rather indifferent response, which I suspect was because she thought we were trying to avoid paying the bill. However, we merely wanted to point out the issue because it was unpleasant. The pricing was reasonable, about average for a sushi restaurant in Duluth or Superior. Overall, I wasn't impressed, and we typically avoid returning to places where we find hair in the food, so we won’t be coming back.

Never disappointed!! My favorite restaurant for sure. Most friendly staff, and the food is fantastic! Huge selection and very affordable.

Worst sushi we have ever tasted! We couldn't eat certain rolls because they were so bad. Warm and mushy. I told them they were horrible and still charged us extra for leaving food on the plate. It was a complete waste of 100.00. Service was decent.

I absolutely LOVE that they offer ketogenic options! If you're planning to try the all-you-can-eat sushi lunch, make sure to order in smaller increments. The waitress gave me a heads-up, but I ended up ordering 19 rolls (and a few more), and let me tell you, finishing it all was quite a challenge. Just a reminder: if you don’t finish what you order, they will charge you extra. I'm a pretty stubborn person and managed to eat it all (yay!), but next time I’ll definitely be more careful. Keto-friendly options are a huge plus! My son is on a very strict ketogenic diet, and it’s great to have places like this that cater to our needs.
