DO NOT go to Sunriver if you are an EV owner. Charging options are woefully pathetic. One working charger out of 7 for a huge resort. So much for progress.
We had a wonderful experience at the resort. We were there for about a week. The service by shuttle bus was excellent and super fast, friendly, helpful. The pool was great, pony ride was fun for our son, and of course wonderful paved walking/biking paths everywhere! I would recommend this place for a vacation to any family with kids, for sure. The only thing lacking IMHO was a big shaded playground, by the pool would be ideal. The resort is an easy drive to LavaLands, Smith Rock, Crater Lake, and much more.
We rented a home through the resort (and I’ve done so for over 20 years). I echo the sentiment of other reviewers- it’s a beautiful location with a lot of things to do anytime of the year. That being said, the beauty comes mostly from nature, and from the well maintained bike trails, etc… which are not exclusive to the resort, but rather a part of the Sunriver community. They were transparent (at least after booking) about check in being between 1600-1800; however, our check-in was delayed due to the keypad not working, so I would allow some time for check in if you’re renting a home here. Note to self- a 6 PM check-in time and 10 AM check out time are almost reason enough to not rent through the resort again. Also, traveling as a couple who work remotely, I would not plan on a reliable work connection. Both Wi-Fi and cellular service seem to be limited in multiple areas-including the main lodge area (we relocated from our rental to try to find a better connection). I imagine it’s not the resort’s fault, but something to know in case you need to rely on connectivity. VPN connection wouldn’t work for either of us. Ultimately, it’s a great place for a vacation and to recreate, especially for families. Seems like they’re trying, and I have many positive cross-seasonal and generational memories here. I would recommend doing research and seeing other homes that you can access if your plan is to rent a home (many alternative rentals will give you access to the homeowners pool. I personally like the resort Cove pool better, but that’s just a matter of opinion). It seems like the whole area is understaffed, which is not unusual in these times. Special shout out to Jake who was awesome and came and helped us fix the keypad issue right away. Thank you, Jake!
Everything you need for a really special getaway is right here.
