My partner and I decided to have lunch at 88 Topokki in Pinelands Plaza after walking past the restaurant for years. Their is an abundant amount of Korean fusion style food on the menu that all looks fabulous. We shared hot plates of bulgogi beef and marinated spicy pork and a plate of gyoza. The food was delicious and so filling and definitely value for money. The waitress was very helpful and food came out very quickly.
My go-to for some yummy korean soy fried chicken and ginseng chicken soup. It can get quite busy some nights especially weekends but if you go after 8pm its usually okay. Unlimited refills of side dishes, i love the sweet potato and macaroni side dish. Highly recommend!
I just wanted to share some thoughts about our visit last night (August 1, 2019). There was only one waitress serving a packed restaurant, and she was absolutely amazing! She was very attentive and helpful, even with the place being so busy. She consistently made sure our side dishes were refilled and that all our needs were met. She definitely deserves recognition because I understand how stressful it can be to work in a busy restaurant environment. As for the food, it was good! We usually come here for the fried chicken, but I have to say, if they added a grilled pork belly dish to their BBQ menu, I would order that every time!
A highlight of the menu is definitely their KFC, or Korean fried chicken—big statement, but I’d say it’s my favorite KFC in Brisbane. The original flavor paired with the honey mustard dipping sauce is so delicious that it feels almost indulgent. The other two flavors are also quite tasty. A couple of things to note: when you're seated, you’ll receive a small serving of banchan (Korean side dishes). Don’t hesitate to eat them quickly and ask for more! Just like any good Korean restaurant, banchan is complimentary and unlimited, so feel free to raise your hand to flag down a waitress for another round. Just a heads up, like many places in Sunnybank, the staff can be a bit sparse, so there may be times when you’ll have to grab your own beer and soju from the fridge. Finally, it’s a BYO venue with a small corkage fee if you want to bring along a bottle of wine, which I think is a great option! And make sure to request a takeaway container if you have leftovers. I highly recommend it—but do try to stagger your visits!
