Contribuiți la feedbackThe restaurant previously known as Coffin Club is now Meat Up, and has been for some time. The new staff offer exceptional food, drinks, service, and promotions. During our visit, two of us enjoyed 241 cocktails while the other two had pints. The 241 offer seems to be available regularly, and there was also a 10% discount just for dining. The woman who appeared to be the manager or owner was outstanding and created a welcoming atmosphere. The food was outstanding and there was nothing to fault about the restaurant. Whether you are a meat lover or vegetarian in Sunderland, if you are hungry and seeking a great place to eat, head to Meat Up! Delicious.
The food here is top-notch, with generous portions and friendly service. We had a wonderful evening in a beautifully decorated restaurant. The overall experience has vastly improved.
I had really been looking forward to trying the food here and went for tea. We ordered the trio of tacos, the smoked brisket, chicken wings, bacon and cheese fries and onion rings, all to share. The tacos and brisket were very disappointing. They were barely warm and the brisket lacked flavour. The chicken wings made up for the brisket as they were tasty, and the onion rings were obviously freshly made which was good. The cheese fries were without a doubt my favourite though, deliciously cheesey and the chips were clearly homemade. £30 for the two of us sharing seemed reasonable, but I 'm glad we didn 't pay more. The guy who served us was nice and friendly. I would have liked to have given 4 stars, but I just don 't feel like it was 'very good '. We will be going again to try the burgers and we 're keeping our fingers and toes crossed that they 're worth the money.
Just arrived home from what I have to say was the worst meal I've ever had the pleasure of paying for! My other half has been craving chicken for a couple of weeks so I suggested trying the coffin club as we've not been since it changed from holy smokes and I'd read good things. I now feel terrible as the best thing about the meal was the service! We arrived at 6.15 and ordered 2 pints and a sharing platter. The lovely young lady brought the drinks instantly. At 7.00 she came back and offered potato skins and coleslaw as there'd been a mix up in the kitchen and our meal wasn't ready. At 7.15 our sharing platter arrived, disappointed does not even come close to how we both felt. The beef brisket, pulled pork and burger were quite nice, however no sausage as stated on the menu, soggy chips, chilli beef that tasted like bolognese (no kick at all! , terrible ribs and according to my other half the only place he's ever eaten that can get chicken wings wrong! We did let the waitress know as we paid and she did let the kitchen know however all she could do was apologise. Not her fault at all and she dealt with our complaint very well. With so many restaurants vying for business in Sunderland city centre right now I can safely say this is one to be put down to experience. What a shame!
Visited here yesterday for dinner and left feeling very disappointed. Me and my partner had been looking forward to trying out the food here all week and unfortunately the food did not live up to its expectations at all. The food came out within seconds of ordering and the food was freezing cold, we both ordered the two meats, the beef brisket was hard and cold and the chips were hard and also cold. I ordered a drink of kopperburg and when it came the glass had a disgusting stale smell to it and the ice cubes had black fluff stuck to them which ended up floating around in my drink. The service we received was also very poor. We left the restaurant feeling nothing but annoyed and disappointed in our food and service, the place has massively gone down hill from when it was holy smokes.
