The Ram - Sun Valley

Overall, it was a delightful experience. The food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional! I would highly recommend it for a fine dining experience. However, if you have small children or are in a hurry, you might want to explore other options, as the intention here is to enjoy a leisurely meal, not a quick one.

I attempted to make a reservation for one person, but OpenTable showed that all time slots were unavailable. However, when I changed the reservation to two people, every slot suddenly became available. I'm not sure who is at fault here, but it's disappointing that they don't accept reservations for one person.

Definitely old school in the best sense. Beautiful setting. Well presented. Food was good but not outstanding particularly for the price. I see it as a special event more than foodie heaven. The service was outstanding. Our setting on the patio overlooking the pond was amazing. We don't need to go back as it was an event treat for us but I would recommend it as such.

The Ram is always pleasant to visit. There have been times when we've felt overlooked, but generally, the service is just okay. The price of dinner is a bit steep—about one-third more than another restaurant of similar quality. However, we absolutely love the piano player and host, Michael! He adds a wonderful touch to the experience.

Last night's foos experience did not parallel the last time we ate at the Ram. The Hungarian Goulash and Halibut were excellent. However, the beef filet was tough and came out cold. I had the hot tomatoes and burrata salad which was very tasty but you could hardly see it on the plate! The bar area is fantastic and Michael the bartender was very attentive and friendly. David our server is also an excellent waiter. It is the second time we have had him at the Ram. Unfortunately we were not able to eat outdoors but the ambience inside was still very good. We did ask for espressos and cappuccinos and were told they do not have a machine. We thought that was crazy given the fine dining of the restaurant. I would still recommend the restaurant as many positive factors outweighed the few negatives.
