Contribuiți la feedbackWhat a fantastic traditional spot! The food is outstanding, and on weekends, they host impressive wood-burning ice shows. The ambiance is perfect and charming, and the staff is incredibly accommodating. You can truly feel the history here, with images adorning the walls. The bar has a great atmosphere as well.
My main concern is the upkeep of certain areas. I understand it's an older hotel, but the hot tub had missing grout between the tiles, and the pool was in need of cleaning, covered with dead bugs and leaves. The elevator ride was quite bumpy. On a positive note, the bathtub was fantastic—deep with great water pressure. However, I would have changed the design to avoid placing the shower turn-on valve directly underneath the showerhead, as it can lead to a very cold surprise at first. While we enjoyed the fantastic balcony view, some of the pavers on the deck were cracked or had pieces missing. As for the rooms, I can't speak for others, but ours was quite nice and the bed was comfortable. In terms of walkability, there are plenty of nearby shops and restaurants, so we hardly needed to drive anywhere. However, be aware that the bill for food and drinks can add up quickly.
In 40+ years of booking vacation homes I have never had an experience like this. I booked a house last October in person from the manager at the resort and received my confirmation They have called me twice now recently to tell me that the “rate has changed” from $1080 per night to $2,500 per night. What? No mention was ever made that the rate I was quoted was subjected to change. I have the printout from when I booked and also the booking email. They both show the confirmation number, the rate and the deposit paid. Zero mention anywhere that the rate isn’t final. I am so confused and have no idea why they are doing this. The worst part is, this is a trip to the jazz festival for my elderly mother that lost her husband last year and my autistic son that plays the saxophone. I’ve already spend $1,800 on nonrefundable tickets. If this gets cancelled it will break their hearts. This is hands down the worst experience I have ever had with a business. And in my current circumstances it will be rubbing salt into wounds.
To make matters worse, I encountered an issue with my business travel. I mistakenly booked the wrong dates due to confusion over my itinerary (I was responsible for the hotel, while my company booked the flight). When I received a no-show bill, I explained that my company wouldn’t reimburse me, but they were unhelpful and said there was nothing they could do since my booking prevented other guests from staying in their empty resort. It was incredibly disappointing and frustrating! The staff were not accommodating at all, and I thought the service was quite poor. Even Airbnb has been more reasonable in my experiences! I wouldn’t recommend this resort to anyone attending a conference. There are far better options available at this time of year! The conference itself was poorly organized; the food was consistently late, and attendees were left wandering around with nothing to do. Overall, it was a sad and terrible experience at this resort.
We attended an event here and had a wonderful stay. Then I accidentally forgot my clothes in the closet. I remembered the clothes after we were 200 miles away. I called and spoke with Jackson, who handled every detail in getting my forgotten shirts and slacks back to me, checking with me along the process and never dropping the ball. That's when I knew I would always come back to the Sun Valley Inn. Thanks, Jackson!
