Contribuiți la feedbackWhile all the hot dogs we've tried were excellent, our favorite is definitely the City Slicker, especially with the spicy NY red onion sauce—it's incredible! I believe the restaurant has changed ownership since our first visit, but this was the only noticeable difference. I personally prefer the traditional beef-style chili we had on our second visit over the pulled beef chili on the Rootin’ Tootin’ Dog; the pulled beef was a bit too sweet and had a slightly bitter aftertaste for my liking. On our second visit, they also had a chili cheeseburger on the menu, which my husband tried and absolutely loved. While the hot dogs are undoubtedly the star of the show, you must try the Smashed Potatoes—crushed baby red potatoes fried on the grill and served with a dipping sauce. I’ve tried both the honey mustard and garlic aioli, and the garlic is my favorite. During our recent visit, we also sampled the baked beans but were a bit disappointed by how dry they were; maybe it was just the last serving. One of the best aspects of the restaurant is that the hot dogs are served on roasted, New England-style rolls. I just wish I could find those rolls to purchase locally for home! The dining room is small and features an original jukebox (no CDs in this oldie but goodie), which plays 45s. The walls are adorned with album covers from a bygone era and even have a map where visitors can pin their hometowns; we saw pins from Japan and other distant places. We are eagerly looking forward to our next visit to the area, and Rootin’ Tootin’ Hot Dogs will definitely be our first stop!
Hot Dogs menu has a variety of choices and roasted fried rolls, pages made like home Mac n cheese, FRIED BABY RED potatoes that are incredible. Dive sauce are also at home made and highly recommended. Juke Box plays 3 songs for a quarter, which is an explosion from the 50s. Great place and great customer service!
Wow! That's all I can say! If you're in the area (or even if you're not), this place is a fantastic escape from ordinary food. With low prices, local hot dogs, homemade cheese sauce (absolutely amazing!), homemade ice cream sandwiches, and everything cooked fresh after you order, it's simply delightful! The atmosphere is fantastic as well, featuring a well-maintained jukebox, classic diner decor, and a small but cozy dining area. If I'm back in town, I'll definitely return 100%! I can't wait for my next meal!
While I went back from NY to Chicago, I saw rootin 'Tootin' while I came back to I-80. I held on the shoulder of the entrance ramp, googled rootin ' Tootin ' saw excellent reviews... I saw how I can return to the main road from the highway ramp that asked myself whether the back cover, hanging up a completely illegal U-turn on the ramp is worth a stinking 'hot dog? Well, I found out.... The answer is yes, it was worth it!!! It is hard to find a hot dog joint that Grills Hot Dogs, not to mention with added bacon on a really well roasted bunny, a page of deep fried tater chunks with more bacon cheese, and some really good Cole Slav... They also have a world map on the wall for customers to show a colored pencil where they live. There is a pen on about 80% of the world map, from Russia, Africa, Asia, Alaska... A certain place to stop Chow down!! Tom.
This is the ideal spot to visit after a long hike. I had the best hot dog I've ever tasted here. The staff is extremely friendly, and there are great specials to choose from. They source their ingredients from local farms!
