Kilcamb Lodge - Strontian

Spent a night here recently, wee birthday road trip. Beautiful surroundings and views had us sitting at the window of our room just looking out. Our room was decorated in keeping with the style of the hotel, very comfortable and spacious. The Staff were very friendly and polite when talking to guests, nothing was a bother. Our evening meal was superb, they managed to cater for my dietary needs without any fuss. My only small criticism was we felt a bit rushed, but as I say its a small issue.

Lovely location, superb scenic drive to get here, thin walls for such an old building (you can tell if the person in the next room has the fidgets, cos all the floor boards creak), and no coffee in the room, I guess cos they expect you to dial for it. Very disappointed that for the 2017 best dog friendly hotel of Britain you can’t sit with your dog in the bar, which really is not right and it’s the reason we came (so we sat outside), But nice treats in the room for him, and splendid grounds to walk.... ...BUT......the food ranks as one of the top ten meals of my life!! Proper culinary experience and a bespoke vegan menu....a serious taste extravaganza which we won’t forget in a hurry! Sounds pompous, but when it’s really good, it’s worth saying. Fab wine. Very good selection of whisky, but could benefit from a couple of the non standard bottles from a couple of the distilleries on the list.

Outstanding food good atmosphere and idilic setting warm comforting decor

The food and staff we have been going there for a long time in fact since theirSunday lunch was £15 and we only once had to complain in all these years and the complaint was dealt with and we never had it again. It's not so far away on a lovely drive from the ferry and the staff make you so welcome. I highly recommend the Sunday lunch, the tables are dressed lovely and the wine glasses are beautiful.
