As we were going out to dinner to another restaurant in Strathroy, we came upon Simply House and thought we might as well try it....we had not been aware that it even existed....what a great find!!!!Both of us like good, and high quality Chinese food...we now have a new favorite...our server was friendly, knowledgeable and courteous....our food was served hot by the owner herself, who apologized for the wait...we had not been concerned as it was quite obvious that we were not the only guests...Simply House was hopping with activity with both take out and eat in orders...we most certainly will return...Congratulations on opening your new business!!
Ordered take-out this time. I ordered the Classic Pad Thai Noodle dish ($13.99) and the Hot and Sour Soup ($3.99). The pad thai was full of shrimp and chicken, was moist and tasty. I love hot & sour soup and can't find it locally very - great to have a place here in town serving it!. Service was great - 15 minutes from ordering to pick-up and food was served hot. Excellent
I'm not sure what the person who slammed this place regarding portion sizes is referring to but we've ordered chicken balls, sesame chicken, kung po chicken and general tao chicken as well as chicken fried rice....all had large portions and were great. Also to say Strathroy does not have a good place to eat Chinese food is comical since we now have 2. Tangs which is also fantastic and now Simply House. So this person is a classic example of can't please some people no matter what you do.We've eaten at Simply House with take out 3 times now and all 3 were great. Give it a try for yourselves.
Four of us had dinner at Simply House in Strathroy and we all concurred that this was substandard food. We all had chicken or beef dinners and each of us commented on how miniscule the pieces of meat were and there were very few pieces on each plate. They were all done in batter and very dry. The General Tao chicken was bathed in a sweet and sour sauce. The sauce usually has tomato paste, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil and othe ingredients but not this one. It was a very standard sweet and sour sauce probably out of a bottle. The Lemon chicken's sauce tasted vinegary, not lemony and the Chow Mein was tasteless like it had been boiled. The Eggrolls and Spring Rolls had an odd taste as though they had been frozen, thawed and refrozen. I can't be sure but I don't think this food was cooked in the back, just brought in, stored and heated. Very disappointing as we crave a good Chinese Restaurant in Strathroy. Sad to say we still don't have a decent Chinese restaurant in this town. The atmosphere is very plain but clean. The service was very business-like, not terribly friendly.
