WARNING THIS PLACE HAS NO MENUS, THEREFORE YOU WILL NOT KNOW HOW MUCH THINGS ACTUALLY COST. It is hard to believe such poor standards in customer service actually exist. You would think being a first world country, such things only happen in developing nations or the movies. As soon as you walk in, you realise there is no waiter or waitress to greet you, there are no menus, and you need to ask the lady in the kitchen for what is available. We ended up ordering the suggested main course with pancakes, salmon and some other things on one small dish, costing 35 dollars in total. The lady told us this option came with pilmeni (Russian dumplings). After the main course the dumplings came out, and when it came time to pay, me and my wife ended up with a bill of 105 dollars?! The lady charged us 15 dollars each for a small plate of pilemni, and 5 dollars customer service fee! Ridiculous! They wanted to charge us 5 dollars for the pitiful service, which consisted of them bringing out the dishes? Not to mention they omitted the fact the pilmeni was an extra charge. I thought dodgy things like this only happened in my motherland of Russia. This place is a joke, I cannot stress how bad this place is. The lesson I learned is to never be a patron of a restaurant that has no menu. They could have alleged it was 200 dollars per plate for all we knew.

Berezka Restaurant is a small humble restaurant operated the Harbin-born white Russian directors of the Club. The menu, consisting of half a dozen or so items and featuring classics such as pelmeni (an entree), piroshki (an entree and main), Stroganoff and kotlety (mains), is simple but effective. (However, that may not be enough for most diners who want a little more variety.) The food had character, reflecting the Harbinite Russian origins of the staff. Service is wonderful at Berezka. The lady — a babushka — serving us may not have been present at all times but they were friendly and warm. Furthermore, the speed with which things arrived was timely. The ambience is conducive to dinner in any form, from quiet to boisterous, with a distinct Russian feel and decor to the place — particularly in the form of Russian artwork and a Russian flag. However, it is a shame that this little piece of Russian heaven in a city otherwise deficient or lacking in a Russian presence is the cold, empty feel for most of the time — during the week, as it only opens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, and when it opens, when it is mostly patronised by Russian people from Strathfield and surrounding suburbs that make the pilgrimage to this promising restaurant. Very nice Russian restaurant, nice people are cooking dumplings with sour cream and soy source sooooo beautiful. In the bar we take Black Russian, very good as well. One place we will come back again . Oh yes the beetroot soup is nice too, the beef inside is really tasty
Was looking forward to dining here however things took a turn very quickly. NOTE: I would have rated this place ZERO but there is no lower option than 1. Other reviews suggested this restaurant to be humbly priced so we thought we would give it a go. We arrived at the Russian Club in Strathfield where we guessed our way into what we assumed was Berezka Restaurant - there was no obvious signage. There was no one in the restaurant to greet us so we wandered to the kitchen for assistance. We were advised to sit anywhere as there were literary no other diners. Without menus for us, the waiter decided that she would serve us what she called a "taste test" of borscht (beetroot soup), along with two peroshki (savoury filled donuts) per person and a share plate of pelmeni (dumplings). When asked how much it would cost, she estimated about $50 but couldn't really confirm. This is when we began to worry. I asked once again for a menu but the waiter insisted that there was no menu - although there was a menu price board sitting by their kitchen doorway. We decided to just go with the peroshki which she said was $2 each. However when it came to pay, it's had somehow inflated to $3 each. When we questioned this, the woman argued that $3 each was the correct price and that she could prove this by showing us the menu. Hmmm.....I think this says it all! This place is shady and very average tasting. DO NOT GO HERE! Also, the peroshki filling was cabbage only - unlike other reviews, theirs' were cabbage and meat. We were not pre-informed about this at the time of ordering. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Would have taken photos but we were eager to get out there. Went down the road and continued our lunch at a korean dumpling joint instead.
