They're famous for their fried chicken, although their prices have gone up recently despite being the same size. The ddeokbokki hotpot is also nice and decently priced despite the rise in costs.
The Kimchi here is top notch. If you order anything with sides, always get a taste of kimchi here. It has a balanced sourness, spiciness and softness that suit my taste buds very well. The port cutlet was done very well, good size, very crunchy and fresh. You know at once that this pork cutlet was deep fried and served to you fresh out of the deep frier. The service was good, I guess it helps if you go with a korean friend who makes all the decisions and can speak fluent korean to the waiter/waitress
I've only ever ordered the chicken schnitzel from here as it's become a fast favourite for me and everyone I've brought here! The chicken is sliced thin and covered in a light flakey batter that beats anywhere else. The serving size is huge as well! You get two large pieces of meat with rice, coleslaw and a super tasty sauce. At $18 I always feel like I've got my money's worth whenever I visit. The girls here are super friendly as well! Always a pleasure coming here
Alrose Garden is an indecisive eater's best friend. The menu is not huge but they offer a broad range of dishes from schnitzels, noodle soups, hotpots, right through to bar snacks; and what they do offer, they are damn good at. Pork and chicken schnitzels are what most people come for. Giant pieces of meat are flattened and coated in a katsu batter before taking a dive in the deep fryer. The result is a thin, flaky schnitzel with maximum crunch and no soggy fall-apart coating. Accompanying slaw and purple rice completes the meal at $16. Compliment the schnitzel with a big bowl of noodles and dumplings in chicken soup ($14). This item used to be named 'homemade noodles' but I'm glad they have now changed the name as it certainly was not made in house. However, these are fresh packaged noodles so texturally there is a lot of bite and they do not lose out to any handmade noodles I've tasted. Fried squid legs are also a great accompaniment to light Korean beer and the dumplings are thin sheets of dough encasing generous fillings. This place has never disappointed me and is my go-to restaurant when I simply cannot decide what to eat. The interior may be a bit outdated but their food is tried and trusted!
