Contribuiți la feedbackI just had an amazing lunch at this restaurant. The food was fantastic, the staff was wonderful, the ambiance was great, and the surroundings were perfect. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
This restaurant serves the best food for miles, with great service and a fabulous, innovative menu. The selection of unpretentious and delicious wines is also worth mentioning. The attentive service and accommodations for coeliacs make this place a must-visit. I highly recommend it in every way!
Our fifth or sixth visit and as always we had a great time. The restaurant was very accommodating with a special request so we were off to a great start. We had the tasting menu and so many superlatives I need to use….the bread with...the pork fat was unctuous, the pheasant ravioli was delicious, the venison amazing. Such attention to detail. The puddings for me were stand out-soufflé was the best I’ve had (and I’ve had an amazing raspberry one at the waterside inn which in my previous view was my best). If I’m being overly picky the cod dish was marginally underwhelming -I feel slightly churlish for even mentioning but..Lovely wine, amazing staff. Can’t wait for the next time ….
Our first visit to the Royal Oak with friends for a pre-Christmas lunch. We had high expectations, given the Michelin Star, and we’re not disappointed. The service was friendly, and attentive, but not overly formal which is what we like. The food was beautifully cooked,...and presented, with a good choice for vegetarians. Even the bread was to die for! We ended up having the Course lunch. Highlights of the meal were the pheasant agnolotti and the chocolate soufflé. The cheese was all local as I guess were the rest of the ingredients. The house gin, again local, is well worth a try. The wine list is extensive but not over intimidating. Will definitely be going back for more in the New Year!
A beautiful little Restaurant, without the constant sound of traffic. Also attentive staff, with also the Chefs coming out to describe the dishes...a great touch. We both had the Pheasant Agnolotti for starter which was excellent, with subtle flavours, light and with the right textures....I had Mallard for the Main, with my friend having the Cornish Cod with Borlotti beans and trompettes. Even though both dishes were executed well, didn`t quite live up to the starter. The Cod dish was in my opinion lacking in depth of flavour and the Mallard could have been slightly softer and with more sauce offered. The star of the meal was both the Crab Apple Souffle and the dark chocolate with pear and birch syrup. Over all a place that I would definitely return too.
