I can't say that trying to eat it with just one knife, it improved. the wine list included wein from red wine grapes or white wine that did not trust in inspired. the poor waitress had to play everything. She did the best. I felt so sorry for her overall. it wasn't her idea! I don't think I'll try it again.
This restaurant attempts to create ambience by being dark, presenting a menu in medieval German and playing piped music of a rather dubious vintage. This is augmented by providing only a serrated knife with which to eat your food and serving drinks with names like... Viking Blood . The connection between Viking blood and music from the time of Henry VIII eluded me I 'm afraid. The food itself was OK, if uninspiring. I can 't say that trying to eat it with only a knife improved it. The wine list comprised wine from red grapes or wine from white grapes which didn 't inspire confidence. The poor waitress had to play up to all this. She did her best. On the whole I felt sorry for her. It wasn 't her idea after all! I don 't think I 'll be rushing to try it again.
I was worried that we would not get a seat as I had read the other reports on Tripadvisor. So I booked a table for two.But during the week in this never ending winter, there were many tables available. The place is very atmospheric with very friendly...staff.The address was a little confusing and when I phoned again to find the place, the cook personally waited for us in the street to guide us. The waitress greeted us in old fashioned german and continues in this manner during the evening. For €14.50 each we ordered the recommended all inclusive platter. It was very good.A large selection of different roasted meats(2 slices of smoked pork, piece of pork leg, spare ribs, chicken leg, duck leg),gravy,2 dishes with vegetables, plus potatoes, fries and dumplings. But beware...they try to keep a medieval atmosphere and there is only a knife to eat with. You will have to use either your fingers or some bread.(Your hands will be washed in a bowl with hot water at the table) There was far too much food for us.One portion would have been more than enough, but there is a minimum order for two. Athough we hate waste,we had to leave 2/3 of the food. So when you planning of going there, make sure you take friends with huge appetite.
Best rustic restaurant of the world for me!Since 2003 I go to eat sooo, always with friends the wallensteinplatte all you can eat. super tasty, great service and super price. the ambiente is unbeatable
About the last rating I was a little irritated and called directly whether open or not. I could be calmed. we were there with 21 people and on the back question came no single negative assessment. I was really great. unique atmosphere, super tasty and above all rich food, great personal what nothing to wish left, nice speeches with the aim of bringing us closer to the middle age, which is also successful. only having a knife was a little need for reconciliation, but we knew that before and it was really fun.
