I went to Archers late afternoon today Thursday) to place my pork pie order for Christmas. I had to wait outside for over 5 minutes in the rain whilst a lady and her young daughter were in there only 2 people allowed in the shop due to Covid). When I went inside all cheerful, I said what I wanted to order and was told ‘we are not taking Christmas orders until Saturday, sorry’ I was so shocked I just said oh and left. As I walked away I felt really disappointed at the poor customer service I had just experienced and the ridiculous outdated system. It is just over 3 weeks until Christmas. Marple town and shops want people to shop localIy but after this experience I will take my custom for Christmas and in the future to another local shop where I know I will get the service I expect and should have got from you.
Every town or place i visit I always try the towns pork pies that are on offer and without a doubt ARCHERS are top of the list for me.So glad I live in Stockport as I can enjoy them regular
The staff are at best described as inattentive, but most would say, just rude. Serious retraining needed to sell their very good pies which are only matched by their high price. I won't interupt their staff meeting again.
Great to see Archers open again, after a few weeks closed, they're open Thursday, Friday, Saturday at the moment. I've been visiting Archers since I worked for Hamlets in Marple which was just across the road from the bakery (my old shop is an Estate Agents now and the food is as good now as it was when I first got hooked on their Steak Pies and Sausage Rolls. In normal times, I often have a chat with the boss man if I can catch his eye, as he's always stuck in dealing with trays and trays of goodies. All the staff are smashing, and it's great to watch them interacting with the regulars. I'm on furlough from my job in Property, been stuck at home, climbing the walls and living off sandwiches for lunch, so it's nice to have the option to go and get a Steak Pie (I'll try to resist the urge to go 3 times a week! Called in today for a Steak Pie for lunch and 2 Sausage Rolls for tea. Very sensibly only 2 customers allowed in at a time and the ladies are all masked up. I only waited outside a couple of minutes before going in. The lovely lady who served me today, who I know is quite new, is always an absolute delight to deal with, which really makes a difference in these stressful times when many people you deal with are angry/fed up/scared. She was polite, cheery and, with no fuss or drama, got me a glove to use the PDQ machine as my contactless card doesn't work. Had time for a little small talk about being off work and things getting back to normal and the i was on my way. IF you've never been to Archers, where on earth have you been? Go and support this great local business, The Steak Pies are the best you'll have. The Sausage Rolls are like home-made ones and if you have a sweet tooth there's a huge selection of cakes. Thanks Archers and thank you to the lovely who served me today. Look after yourselves, stay safe and stay open. Stuart
