Loon River Cafe - Sterling Heights

The service and food were disappointing. We waited 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. When we were finally greeted, the staff was unfriendly and informed us that the buffet would be closing shortly. For $10 per person, I felt that they should have paid me to eat there instead. Honestly, the hotel should have provided it complimentary. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant; there are countless better options nearby.

It was very strange because no one was in there and it is right next to a hotel. There was however a sign up there that would make one assume they were closed for business. Once we got inside though it is a very nice well kept together place. Very spacious and they even have small arcade games for children. I am still stumped as to why there wasn't anyone at all in there except for my husband and myself, but nonetheless service was amazing and the food was great as well.

This place is standard room design and service. It's a great place for any type of party. This water park is over the top above average. There is a lazy river that parts off one section into the eye of the storm so to speak, whirlpool. There is 2 separate sections of kiddy pool fountain series. Also a water slide the drinks were spectacular and you can keep souvenir cups. The only critical thing I can mention is the pizza was cooked and toppings were up to par yet the pizza in general was nothing special. I was starving and i ate 1 piece of pie. The cheesecake was also bland. But ice cream was great. It's a beautiful banquet hall there are a few and it's gorgeous perfect for 2 beds

I wish I could give this place negative stars. I only visited because a friend enjoys it, but dealing with a constant swarm of fruit flies while trying to eat is definitely not enjoyable. It makes me question what's happening in the kitchen. The atmosphere is always hot and poorly ventilated, with broken items and a general lack of maintenance. The adjoining hotel and conference area isn’t any better either. Overall, it's quite disappointing.

Most of our group ordered burgers, with a few requesting medium rare. After a 30-minute wait (and we were the only customers in the restaurant), they all arrived well done. When we raised the issue with our waitress, she responded rudely and seemed dismissive. Eventually, she offered to have them recooked, but by then it wasn’t worth the wait. Additionally, some burgers were missing bacon, and fries were forgotten on a few plates. My girlfriend's pasta was swimming in a greasy sauce. If you're staying at this hotel, I recommend ordering pizza or dining at one of the nearby restaurants instead.
