Contribuiți la feedbackI've seen the billboard on I40 for a while and I like hotdogs and local joints so I finally stopped at the drive thru. I ordered a foot long with fries and cherry Pepsi as well as a Johnsonville bratwurst with spicy mustard and kraut. Dessert was something called cherry yum yum! The footling was not bad for brown weenie and the slaw was chunky but worked. Not a big fan of the chili as it tasted like canned Hormel or something akin to that. The brat was split and they are always good from Johnsonville with the mustard and kraut accentuating the flavour. The fries were straight cut and coated and were hot and fresh. The wild cherry Pepsi was good as it always is but the best item was the dessert! Cherry yum yum tasted like cherry cheesecake but looked like banana pudding using cherry pie filling instead...it was worth the visit and I'll be back for morw fo sho...
We visited Jay Bees Hot Dogs in Statesville after a day of visiting wineries near Elkin. I am a big fan of hot dogs have grown up near the Roanoke Weiner stand, so I am always on the lookout for a good dog. To me, that means a hot dog with chili, mustard, and onions. So we had to check out this place. We decided to dine in vs. going through the drive-through. You can tell that this place has been in the community for quite some time. The staff seemed to know most of the customers that arrived during our visit. We ordered one platter to share with a second hot dog. The platter comes with a dog, fries (we substituted onion rings), and a beverage. They are famous for their footlongs, but neither of us was quite that hungry. One to the dogs. We prefer onion rings to fries, and these did not disappoint. They were hot and tasty right out of the gate. The dogs were prepared the way we wanted. The chili was exceptionally good on these two pups. Now, this is not a fancy place. You should probably not be looking for a fancy place when visiting a hot dog stand. They first opened in 1980 and are still in business forty plus years later. This place was clean, the food was good, and the price was reasonable. We would eat here again
Nice place. Great fries. Would have given it five stars but the quality of the hot dog itself was lacking. It appeared to be a very generic dog and lacked flavor and the casing lacked snap. I was expecting better from an establishment that specializes in hot dogs. I would go back and give more of their toppings a try.
I love jay bees. Their food is great and service is usually always great. Except for yesterday. We waited nearly 50 MINUTES in the drive thru for our dinner. We didn’t order anything crazy. A foot long and 2 burgers. We are used to a longer wait time since things are cooked to order but this was a bit much. I could understand if the parking lot was packed but that was not the case at all. We have been coming to jay bees our entire lives but we will be taking a break. This really put a bad taste in our mouths. Your dinner service needs help!
That, Bratwurst dog. May, actually be, as good as they ever get. I got a #3 ... Added another brat. Oh, and !! They got huge Cookies. Chocolate chip was very good too.
