La Candela Espanola - Staten Island

My favorite restaurant on Staten Island. Great food and the best sangria in town. The atmosphere and music are warm and inviting. The wait staff is super attentive and never let your glass of sangria run dry. Always a great dinner and night at La Candela.

For nearly two decades, I have been going to La Candela and it has become my favorite restaurant on Staten Island and one of my favorite restaurants in New York City. Unlike other restaurants, the food is always outstanding and the experience is consistent. The staff is incredibly professional and very friendly, especially my long-time waiter, Alonso. My favorite dish is the Chicken Villaroy which tends to be very hard to find in most Spanish restaurants in New York City as well as in other major US cities. When I have been able to have it elsewhere, it doesn't hold a candle to La Candela's dish. I can honestly say that this is a great restaurant whether you are having an intimate dinner for two or if you are having large party. Es una experienca maravillosa!

We were a party of 6. Food was fabulous. I had seafood over pasta. Pasta topped with four of each of the following: Sea Scallops, Mussels, Clams and Shrimps. Very, Very tasty. They do not disappoint.

We have been loyal fans of La Candela for years! While it may not be the most affordable option, their Sangria is top-notch and their food is absolutely delicious. My favorite dishes are the chicken Villaroy and the Mariscada.
