The small town of Stanton has a small jewel of an ice rink. Stanton's population is about 38,000 compared to Garden Grove, CA at 175,000. This is a small town, and some people may have never heard of it or perhaps think that it is in the middle of nowhere. However, the neighboring cities to Stanton are actually Cypress, Garden Grove and Anaheim. Neveria La Flor de Mexico is authentic as getting Mexican ice cream and paletas fruit particles. We found this delicious sweet spot right next to Kelley's cookies, which has shortbread cookies that resemble the Honolulu Cookie Company in Hawaii. Neveria La Flor de Mexico handcrafts all their goodies in the house with fresh ingredients. Stepping into this sweet place offers the cozy, hearty and real family feeling. The family behind the counter welcomes everyone with a smile. The walls of this sweet shop are covered with pink and white stripes, adding to the simple and fun feeling of the place. Neveria La Flor de Mexico is a family-run ice shop and they place their Paletas in a freezer with flavor labels stacked on the sliding freezer door. Some flavors they offer are brownies n creme, taro and coconut, coffee w/ almonds, watermelons, rose blossoms and much more. They also offer the traditional shovelable ice cream with many unique aromas made in the house. We have two Popsicles/Paletas and an ice cream in a bowl all for under $9.00! It's a sting in Stanton for all the ice. It is definitely a bang for your Buck! Things tried: rice pudding paleta: tried like Horchata, with a sweet cinnamon taste. Red velvet cheesecake: cheesecake base with pieces of red velvet in the popsicle. The star of this place was called “Angel’s Kiss” which was a cherry base mixed with raisins, strawberries, marshmallows and various types of nuts. This triggered all our senses as the texture of this taste was creamy, chewing and crispy all in a bite of these ingredients. In 2010, this place was one of the top fives under the name “The Best Ice Shop in OC”. If you feel adventurous, then venture to Stanton, CA, it is not so big for some authentic and unique Mexican ice cream; and see why Neveria La Flor de Mexico was on this list.
The treasures they are at home are popsicles called Paletas. Most of them are fruit flavored and some have cream mixed in them. What makes them so delightful that they are made with real fruit bits and are much less sweet than something you would get that has Scooby-Doo or Spongebob Squarepants on the packaging.
Best ice cream in town! Everything is made onsite. Staff are all super nice. Besos de Angel is the best flavor- nothing else like it. Guayana and mint n chip are also exceptional. The paletas are great. They have a taro with coconut cream in the middle like a 50/50 bar and the coconut with a strawberry and kiwi slice is amazing too. I'm so glad I found this place!
The popsicles are awesome. Each flavor is unique and very creamy. The red velvet, tarp, coconut are great. It’s very good quality with unique flavors which justifies for the price. I haven’t tried the ice cream yet I’m still trying to try all the popsicles!
