Contribuiți la feedbackIt was just as I expected it: an old Cremonese Cascina, still with some frescoes, together with more rustic elements is an atmosphere that at the same time is elegant and rustic. An elegance in simplicity. Tasting menu at 45€ really satisfying, also with possibility of menu for vegetables. All exquisite and plentiful, in fact we asked to bring home what had remained. Here, let's say if you are used to eating light, maybe some digestion problem can be there! The staff is very prepared (even young people)! The service is fast. I fell in love with this place! I'll definitely come back.
Unforgettable location, warmness that immediately make you comfortable. Food is simply what you dream about: everything is really home-made, super saffron-risotto with meat, maltagliati monococco with herbs and cheese, T-bone steak with fresh oven cooked vegetables, super desserts. Huge and unconventional wine selection
The place is in proximity of Cremona and is ideal if you need some time for yourself or in the good company of some friends and colleagues. You will be hosted in big rooms (don't be scared as you get the impression of being hosted in an old castle). Ask for those rooms with an amazing view of the park of this spectacular cascina (an Italian countryside house). Built at several stages between 1600-1800, this is a magic place that has found back his original ancient rhythm thanks to its owners, Mr. Fabio and Mrs. Paola. This couple loves the heritage of this house who belongs to the family from generation (in the attached church you can see the names of all the ancestors). Breakfast is served in an incredible charming kitchen, with a view of the garden. Fresh milk, cheese, jams, cakes, juices...just name it...all available and believe it all home made since this is not just a great B&B but also a well known restaurant that serves products directly coming from the family owned farm where respect and worship of nature are the basic elements of this enchanting life.
We had driven past some of the medieval farms in northern Italy and always wondered what it would be like to visit one. We had to chance to do more than that by staying at Cascina Lago Scuro near Cremona. Lago Scuro is a working organic farm and agriturismo (B B) set in a complex of farm buildings that date back to between 1600 and 1800. It includes buildings that served as housing for the farm hands, a chapel, the main house, stables, and a barn. The building have acquired some modern uses including being the homes of the family, a restaurant, a child care center, and space for making cheese. The buildings and setting are rustic but the guest rooms were very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast is made entirely (except for coffee, tea and sugar) of food made from fresh products raised on the farm. We had offerings that included yogurt, granola, milk, bread, pastries, jams, butter, etc. which were all delicious. There is also a working restaurant serving farm-raised meals but it is only open for dinners on weekends and is often fully booked. We were not able to eat dinner there. The host, Luca, speaks very good English and was very helpful in directing us to wonderful local restaurants and providing information on the surrounding area. If you are traveling in the Cremona, Italy area you will find it a treat to spend a few nights at Lago Scuro.
Great location and great quality of the products used to make spectacular dishes. great courtesy from the owners and evident love for their work appears. I'll be back for the last time.
