Shanghai Garden - Stafford

This used to be one of my favourite Chinese takeaway in Stafford. Sadly no more, We ordered on line and were informed it would be 44 mins for delivery. It finally arrived nearer 1h 45 mins after three hastening phone calls. The food was good as usual, except for the shredded beef in Peking sauce which was absolutely inedible. There was no beef, it was just strings off batter, I cut into the so called shredded beef and could not see any! I tried to speak to the restaurant to enquire what went on and was informed that its how we cook it After further remonstrations as to the missing beef the phone was put down. I will never use this place again.

Rice tasted of grease. Couldn’t even bite into the crispy shredded beef. Very disappointing. Won’t be going back.

Excellent food, consistent quality and a good vegetarian selection. Strongly recommend salt and pepper chips and hot and sour soup. We have used Shanghai Garden for over two years regularly. Always high quality food and quickly delivered by friendly staff. I highly recommend!

We spent £30 on our meal at this Chinese restaurant, our first Chinese meal in years. We were disappointed to find that the Pork in black bean sauce was more like a gravy with chunks of meat. The chow mein had a similar taste. We could have made a better version ourselves at home. The lack of vegetables in the chow mein was also disappointing. Overall, the experience has put us off Chinese food and we won't be returning or recommending this restaurant. The black bean sauce was watery and did not meet our expectations.

The delivery arrived promptly, but the food was terrible. The rice had a strong burnt grease smell as I was serving it, and the chicken in the rice had black marks from the burnt pan. The curry sauce was green and resembled mushy peas. The entire meal was unpleasant and I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. Given the current difficult times, I expected the food to be better. Unfortunately, it was not even worth one star.
