Madfish - St. Pete Beach

During my first visit, we were celebrating our birthdays a little early. We started with the "drunk shrimp" appetizer served with Cuban bread and a goat cheese dip. For our main courses, we opted for garlic risotto and a bacon-wrapped filet mignon. We rounded off our meal with a delicious homemade cheesecake to celebrate our special day. Though the menu is somewhat small, it reflects a cooking-driven New American style that focuses on local seafood, complemented by well-chosen land-based options. However, the wine list could use some improvement; it leans too heavily on well-known brands when it would benefit from a selection of smaller, boutique wines that would better match the quality of the menu. Although something from the outside, with its diner-like appearance, the food tantalized my taste buds. The atmosphere is welcoming, and management tries to create a culinary experience that you will not forget. There was a great selection of wines, with offers that were unique and well selected and were well matched with the creative dishes. I highly recommend this place. The sea bass...Fantastic.

Good food! We were completely filled. Waiter was Paul. I didn't want to be better. Great service! The food was delicious, although I usually have easier choices. But we have spoiled a lot for our honeymoon and really enjoyed this place.

Good food but slow service. They were out of 7 of 12 white wines and our server was totally overwhelmed and unfamiliar with the menu. Needs work!
