Contribuiți la feedbackWe had dinner here recently after reading reviews for Indian food around Magill and I researched this restaurant. I think the owners may have changed...no sign of Bollywood actress/present owners photos on the walls and no need to book a table as we were the only diners on a weekend night. The food was tasty although the service was slow...the bill came to just under $40.00 for two people (not including wine - we BYO'd) so definitely good value for money and taste and the staff were very nice.
A quick dinner with friends whilst attending a sporting carnival and close to our accommodation. Well, we were not disappointed! Greatservice, food was divine which was shared by us all from the Indian staples of chicken masala, tandoori chicken, rogan josh, butter chicken and a spicy prawn dish. The condiments of naan bread and raita was also good. I considered this value for money and we all had a good night.
We are a bit ashamed. We live near this restaurant and have driven past it for many years - dismissed as just another small local restaurant offering ordinary food. Couldn't have been more wrong!! Running short of time and looking for a curry hit we went there as the best we could find locally. Don't make our mistake and drive past. As other reviewers have noted this is a little gem. We ate a pork curry (that was a first in an Indian restaurant!!) and an aubergine vegetable curry with raita and plain naan. More than we could eat (small appetites), and excellently cooked. Menu offered a variety of dishes with degrees of intensity likely to suit all tastes. The steady stream of take-away customers who evidently knew the quality of the place seems to bear testimony to this. Cheerful informal service, and prompt considering it is prepared against order and not kept warm in some sort of bain marie. Excellent off-road parking - go into the small laneway right next to the shop. To find the restaurant, look for the large blue ex-picture theatre (now a retail paint shop), and it is immediately before that. No need to brave the city for its' crowds, costs, and difficult parking. To boot, the ex-owner (and still the chef) has a great personal history as a well-known Indian classical dancer - see her gallery of career photos and marvel at how such a person could end up in suburban Adelaide and doing this sort of magic.
This is a small restaurant which is well worth searching out for tasty Indian food at a reasonable price. The staff are cheerful and friendly. The menu offers a range of Indian favorites. Well worth a visit!
This place is a real gem. the food is authentic indian. I can highly recommend the egg plant curry. Don't be put off by the small size of the place the food does all the talking with the amazing flavours and aromas. This is a must try
