Bar Santo - St Kilda

We visited in Nov 16. We had come to see the penguins and stopped here on our way. Everything else was unappealing/unsuitable and I must admit this is the first place we thought 'actually this will do' as it was getting later and closer to sunset. Everything is much more expensive in Australia but we got cheap beer and an inexpensive glass of Sangria. We had prawns/calamari to start followed by a steak and lamb shank. We didn't really have an issues with our food other than it being a little bit cold, however we did notice the table next to us complain and the waitress/owner replaced their meal without any issues. Probably wouldn't come back again as I'm sure they're are other nice places nearby to eat but this restaurant was ok for the price.

Food was ok, nothing flash. Waiter had a cold and kept wiping his nose with his hands! Gross! Tried to ring to complain but the two receipts I received had two different restaurant names in them. When I looked up the phone numbers, both have been disconnected. $1 extra for paying by eftpos. All in all a very up satisfying experience. There are many other restaurants to choose from in the area...do it! Don't go here!

Menu reads well, but food is **** awful. Pumpkin Linguini, simply worst I've ever had...no flavour, watery, 2 pieces of unpeeled, poorly cooked(almost raw) drowning in overcooked pasta with lots of chopped parsely to cover the disaster. Very amateurish. Other meals, limp salads no dressing provided. Had to ask for condiments, and then, never saw the waitress again (she stood behind our table at the cash register the whole time) to be able to order desert. We declined to pay for at least the pasta dish..Saturday night, should have learned from fact not much patronage. I agree...keep walking!

Went there for a second attempt and that hopefully they may have learned from our previous visit.Nope. The first time I had the chicken parma, I asked for a replacement as it was flat, burned and dry. The second one was hardly better but by this time I was starving so I ate the middle and left the outer edges.went there a few weeks ago and because my favourite comfort food is chicken parma I did it again. It was just as bad as the first experience. Still dry and the chicken was so thin.the staff didn't want to listen to my complaint and kept clear of our table.The first waitress was difficult to understand and we had to repeat our orders. We asked that our wine be delivered when our meals were ready but we got the wine even before we got water.My cousin's lasagna was very nice, fortunately she gave me half.There are so many cafe's / restaurants along this strip, I just don't understand why the service and meals haven't improved.Funnily enough a couple at the next table asked about my parma (he had also ordered it) and he also thought his was dry and tasteless.People that were sitting outside had to move in doors as they didn't have outdoor heaters.

Excellent location with views to the water. Great food and a nice night was had by our party of boozers......
