Spotted Fox Ale House - St. Charles

I would leave zero stars if I could. The service was not great. I felt like we were being rushed. The food was TRAGIC. I paid $15 for a sampler trio and was brought out 3 shrimp and calamari that looked like onion rings (tasted like they were from a grocery store freezer section). The cocktail sauce was awful. There was also cold fries with some type of cheese sauce and bacon bits that tasted awful. I then ordered a burger and specifically asked for no onions and said this twice as I'm allergic. My burger came out covered in onions which I sent back and asked for that to be taken off the bill. I'm still angry for having to pay for the sampler. I WOULD NOT SUGGEST GOING HERE TO EAT!

If you want good food this is not really the place. Bar food. Could be way better even for bar food. The pretzel appetizer was good. Service good but our waitress had a half shirt on and her belly button ring was exposed..sorry but not what I wanted to see while ordering food. She was very nice tho.

Spotted Fox Ale House had a good beer selection. The Friday fish fry was great and included six juicy pieces of cod along with a choice of fries, including sweet potato. They have wine in 4 flavors, no actual names or labels presented. There are plenty of TVs to watch a variety of sports and Big Brother. Seemed an odd thing to throw in but okay. The bartender, Patrick, was busy. May stop in again for another fish fry.

Good place for drinks and to hang out. Comfortable atmosphere with large flat screens everywhere. The service was good and there is plenty of parking. The food was not good at all. I ordered a turkey club but they were out of turkey. That's okay so I ordered a steak wrap and my wife had a southwestern salad bowl that was topped with chicken. The chicken was small and very dry. The steak wrap was very bland and almost tasteless. We did order fried pickles and those were very good. A dry chicken salad, a tasteless steak wrap, an appetizer and 2 cokes, $42 plus a tip. I'd go for a drink but would definitely eat elsewhere.

If I could give this restaurant a zero rating, I would. The place was only a quarter full, but they had four service staff waiting tables so they were not understaffed. It took 20 minutes just to get someone to take our order, and we had to flag them down as three out of the four service staff pointedly ignored us. Despite giving a simple order, it took another 20 minutes to receive our water to drink. When our food finally arrived, only three of us had silverware, and they never brought a fourth set. The condiments we had ordered for our sides never came out, and we had to ask for them again with no success. Two of our orders were incorrect. No one came to check on us, and the servers actively avoided our table when we tried to get their attention. We sat with empty water glasses, a shortage of silverware and condiments, and incorrect food. Additionally, they added a 4% credit card charge to the bill if paying by debit/credit card. The only positive aspect was that the food itself was decently average. We were a group of three middle-aged adults and one young adult, and we did not order anything complicated or difficult. This was easily the worst service we have experienced in years.
