La Zaza Trattoria - St. Charles

I visited this restaurant for the first time and it was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The service was excellent and the decor and location were beautiful. I ordered the whitefish with capers in a lemon butter sauce with spinach and it was incredibly delicious. The portion size was perfect and the dish was prepared perfectly. The dessert, Turtufo, was also a pleasant surprise and exceeded my expectations. I also tried the beautiful beet salad, which was a nice change from the usual options. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant soon.

This is a charming spot for a romantic night out. I have only ever sat at the bar, where the low lighting can make it a bit difficult to read the menu. However, I really enjoy the cozy atmosphere created by the dimmed lights. I am giving it 4 stars because they change the food menu every 3 months, which was unexpected. I usually order the salmon dinner but was surprised to find that it came with onions instead of capers, as I had been looking forward to.

I was impressed from beginning to end with La Zara. I had the veal with mushrooms which was very savory. My fiancee had the chicken parmesan and the gravy was excellent. La Zaza side of pasta was a standout. They are not afraid to use the garlic and that works well for us. I tried my friends Roasted chicken which must be marinated for hours because the flavors where infused straight through to the bone. The service was very attentive and friendly. They loose one star for not following mask protocol. None of the servers were wearing masks, so we won 't be back until masks are no longer needed.

Great Italian restaurant situated in downtown St.Charles. The food is delicious, and I have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is very welcoming. This past summer they have expanded seating to the promenade outside. The outdoor experience is very lively and reminds me of eating out in Florence.

Had a great evening at La Zaza's! A little expensive, but the food is delicious, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the outdoor seating is excellent for a romantic date night it's right on the river and in the heart of St. Charles. Plenty of opportunity for people watching too! I would absolutely recommend this place!
