Lumberjacks - St. Catharines

Had some take-out breakfast sandwiches there and they are simply well-done. Nothing special, but very good to have a less costy place around when you stay here longer.

A slim menu with Gluten free options makes getting breakfast quick and easy. Outside seats available and the coffee comes quickly. Staff friendly and efficient and back with the coffee pot frequently. Open for lunch too but haven't tried that yet.

Staff is blunt but nice; the Lobster rolls are excellent and the soup of the day (my day was Broccoli) was superb. Breakfast is basic and tasty.

My family and I were recently on vacation in St. Andrews and decided to stop by The Lumberjack Café for Saturday morning breakfast because of all the positive reviews. Unfortunately we must have visited this establishment on a bad day!We arrived at 8:50am and seated ourselves. Our waitress approached the table without a smile and brought us utensils/napkins and never even greeted us but rather I greeted her. She abruptly asked if we wanted anything to drink so we ordered coffee. She returned with our coffee and asked if we were ready to order food but two of us hadn't even had time to look at the menu so I asked her for more time. She left and never came back; she literally never returned to our table to take our food order!!! We could see her in the back of the kitchen washing dirty dishes followed by cutting fresh cucumbers with her bare hands; health violation?We waited for an additional 30 minutes to be served by somebody but nobody ever came to our rescue. At this point we were starving so we paid the cashier for our drinks and left at 9:30am. This was the first time in my life that I ever walked out of any eating establishment. I'm not usually one for complaining but this lack of service is unacceptable, especially in a tourist town.One funny thing I should note: While we were there we noticed one of the locals approaching the coffee station to pour themselves a cup of coffee. I guess they are accustomed to the bad service and just ignore it at this point. lolThe one thing I do know for sure is that this particular waitress is on the fast track to the unemployment line if she doesn't change her attitude. Perhaps the manager should provide her with a day off (mental health day) so she can get some r&r and hopefully shake off some of that negativity. After all everyone deserves a second chance right? Unfortunately I just read similar reviews on Trip Advisor regarding the staff's rotten behaviour at this Café so this definitely wasn't an isolated event.You've been warned!!!

Small breakfast spot with approx 7 tables inside and a patio and tables outside. You are greeted but a friendly waitstaff. The menu is small and simple. Very inexpensive Eggs Benedict with homemade bread and potatoes costs $8 Canadian. Any place else it would be $22 plus. The sugar doughnuts are a must! They melt in your mouth and they are not fried but baked oh so good!
