Leroy's Cafe - St. Augustine

This was our first visit to this restaurant since relocating to St. Augustine, and we were pleasantly surprised. The exterior of the old house might make you think it's worth skipping, but don’t be fooled. The waitress was fantastic, and another waitress even lent a hand. This charming spot is a hidden gem among the sea of generic restaurants that are springing up in St. Augustine. It’s refreshing to find a classic place that serves a great breakfast.

I used to love this restaurant, but it has really gone downhill. I ordered a meal that came with toast, but it was burnt. I asked if I could get some fresh toast, which they did bring out perfectly. However, the server who delivered it clearly wasn't happy about having to make new slices. She came to my table and, since she apparently forgot to cut the toast, she picked it up with her bare hands and tore it in half for me, using both slices. I was so disgusted that we didn't eat anything else, and we haven't returned since.

It's a small but charming local spot. I visited for breakfast, and I found the place to be clean and the staff friendly. The food is great, and the breakfast dishes are quite enjoyable.

Good food and service has always been my experience though I don't live in the area anymore so it has been awhile. The 7 knapkin burger and tots were my usual for lunch. Biscuits and gravy with an egg for breakfast.

Its Ok for a slow paced breakfast. Food was cold. That means it must have sat there waiting for the waitress to bring it. I don't send food back so 3 stars. Even if the food was warm at best it's four stars. Hence the name Leroy's hole in the wall cafe.
