We are on a bit of a queensland road trip and in most cities, the only option was pub eating. we came in st george and found this restaurant. Maybe not the biggest in the world, but we found it to be quite authentic. the owner was very friendly, eating was good and the price (including drinks) more than reasonable. what do you want more? would return happily
We decided that we were a bit about pub food and decided to get Chinese for dinner for a bit of a change. that was a big mistake, as this was the most disgusting Chinese cuisine I had ever had and the service was quite shocking...also don't eat here, go to the pub and get them a sliced or pizza instead. when they eat here, they do not get the fried rice or sweet sour swarm. I had an outrage for hours after eating.
After several days on the road and eat, mainly pub food. something in us, called for sweet and not pub food. we were not disappointed at all, great Asian cuisine. if they like us, they need a change.
We enjoy Chinese meals but this one disappointed. We aste at lunch, hence the rather cavernous inside was bereft of those dining-in, although there was a regular stream of takeaways. My vegetable spring rolls 6.00) were OK, but not more than that. My partner's fried...dim sums 6.30), on the other hand, was relished. We asked for a lemon chicken 16.80) to share and had expected it to come out whole, but sliced. Not so! It was like a procession of chicken nuggets, and overdone at that so that was a real disappointment. However the Houghton's Classic Dry White 24.00) assuaged it somewhat. The service was friendly and welcoming, but we were a little lost in such a large area. They clearly expect large bookings because the great majority of tables were for 6, 8 and 10.
