After the initially picked restaurant turned out to be closed, the atmosphere on the terrace of Caffe Collicola just proved too much fun to resist. And what a great choice it was. The lovely waitress went out of her way to ensure the dinner experience was faultless despite her broken English. The parmigiana di melanzane was super tasty and served with a very generous dose of burrata cheese. But the highlight was the pasta dish recommended by the house, a perfectly cooked tagliatelle in a creamy pistacchio sauce with tartufo, an unusual combination which would probably be too overwhelming for a meat dish but worked wonderfully with the pasta. The local chocolate cake, the crescionda spoletina is a great finish, not too chocolatey but rather like a light sponge cake with a soft cream filling. Overall a wonderful dining experience from start to finish at a very reasonable price but mostly a terrific atmosphere provided by the laughing and chatting locals who clearly love this little spot off the usual tourist track.
Tonight my man and I went a short distance from our hotel in spoleto and had a fabulous dinner al fresco in this very charming restaurant. it is a small menu with wonderful food. we shared a paprikasalat with buffalo mozzarella, then one of us had the gnocchi and the other had the paprelle. we started with an aperol splash and had a glass of every local excellent red wine. service was very friendly and good.
We stayed to eat in 3, we tried some tortellini in the truffle menu that I can describe as outside the world!
Tonight my husband and I walked a short distance from our hotel in Spoleto and had a fabulous dinner al fresco at this very charming restaurant. It’s a small menu with wonderful food. We shared a caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella, then one of us had the gnocchi and the other had the paparadelle. Both were excellent. We began with an Aperol spritz each, and had a glass each of the local excellent red wine. Service was very friendly and good.
An aperitivo for 4 cost €60 which consisted of a plate of cold meats, bruschetta with oil and pieces of polenta with toppings. No menu with prices was offered. A complete rip-off. We would have refused to pay but we were under time pressure.
