Contribuiți la feedbackWe had a truly memorable experience at this restaurant. It is advisable to have a guide with you who can provide insight into the history of the house. Our guide shared fascinating information about the memorabilia inside, such as a belt from Sugar Ray Leonard, a letter in a cupboard, the layout of the house, the fire bombing incident, the graves on the property, and even the umbilical cords of Mandela's children. This tour is highly recommended for any traveler, especially those who did not have the opportunity to meet Mandela in person. It offers a close and personal connection to Mandela at an affordable price, as we visited on Youth Day (16 June) and the fee was only R40.
Visiting this restaurant is like stepping into the shoes of a great man and experiencing his life. It is a humbling experience to say the least. The restaurant is small yet cozy, with renovations that have helped to restore the place and offer a glimpse into the Mandela family life. The coal stove and bedroom are authentic replicas, adding to the historical ambiance. The volunteers who lead the tour provide a wealth of information on the home and family history, making it an educational and inspiring visit. It is remarkable to think that Mandela came from such humble beginnings and achieved so much. One thing to note is that there are numerous groups performing traditional dances outside the restaurant, which can be entertaining to watch but they do expect a tip for their performance, which can add up quickly.
Stepping into the home of one of the greatest men who ever lived is truly a surreal experience. It's hard to believe that Nelson Mandela once called this 300 sq ft house home, if only for a short time. With a modest entry fee of 60 rand for adults, visitors are greeted by a lively and knowledgeable guide who brings the history of the place to life. Overall, a 30-minute tour of this historical site is a walk through history that is not to be missed.
Spent an hour in the small yet rich in memories for Mandela and his family. Saw hundreds of world awards for him. A must visit house. We had an awesome tour guide.
It's a great privilege visiting the house of an ICON, MY MENTOR, MY HERO AND AN EXEMPLARY LEADER. Tears filled my eyes when I walked into his house in Soweto, there has been no African Leader till date who is qualified to wear the shoes of NELSON MANDELA. I LOVE YOU SIR
