The Hungry Monk - Southport

Really is the best restaurant is Southport. Food is fantastic and staff really friendly. Had another steak cooked to perfection last night, thank you very much! 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals!

Went here for Christmas Party night with 12 friends, have done for the last few years when it's been really good.this year was chaos, overcrowded and people stood up all night. More tables than usual despite being told that the numbers were being reduced. People on the table next to me we're taking drugs (pills) blatantly and shouting from the moment they arrived, even the singer told them to shut the f..k up. The buffet was of Iceland standard and far less quantity than usual. It's the first time I've seen so many people leaving early. I couldn't wait to leave, but I stayed as long as I could bear due my friends being there. I could go on but there's too much to continue with. Will never go to one of these events again.

Christmas night get together with friends. It was very expensive £65 and we were crammed in barely able to get out of our seat for our lukewarm food. It would appear that only 3 large desserts where put out, once they went, tough luck. Value for money 2/5. Entertainment was good, but a dance floor to fit only 4 people due to the massive overcrowding. The servers doing the drinks were very good too. The Entertainment rescued what would have been a very poor evening.

Stumbled across this quirky bar on a visit to Southport, had a drink at the bar and booked a table for the evening as we liked the look of the place. The food was very good, the staff were excellent and we weren’t rushed. My only comment would be to move some of the tables away from the bar as it is more like a restaurant and there was no room to sit at the bar and have a drink after the meal. All in all a good experience and we will be back.
