The Plough - Southampton

We were cordially invited to get a drink at the bar, because the table was not quite ready, we did this, I felt that the price of a coke for my daughter was very expensive. we waited about 5 minutes, then I asked if our table was ready as it was our time we had booked,After another 5 minutes it was ready. our commands were taken after a short wait and the food arrived immediately. all meal times were right and well presented, I had to ask for a jugof gravy how I had a fry dinner with only one gland gravy on my flesh. I ordered a small plate, but it was still a decent size. we were offered the pudding menu and some of us ordered pudding. these cams are correctly and well represented. that was delicious. we asked about the bill and had also a surprise of a cracker for the mothers day. my daughter was also happy with the sweets we have refunded with the bill.

While the food is good the service is very poor. We arrived for our reservation to be told our table was not ready. No problem, we waited in the bar for 25 minutes and then went back to find they’d forgotten about us and had no table for us. They eventually found us a table, but it wasn’t laid up fully and they didn’t sort it out. We then waited another 15 minutes before we gave up and went to the bar to get someone to take our food order. After our food arrived we again waited for a very long time and eventually had to call someone over to order the children’s ice creams. They then came out with the wrong flavours. We asked for dessert menus and waited 15 minutes for those. After another 20 minutes we gave up, went to the bar to pay and had dessert and coffee at home. I’m not very impressed with the service at all. Last week I was there someone ordered a slice of cake only to be given a plate and told “you’ll have to pick it up with your fingers, I don’t know where the tongs are” he also wasn’t offered any cutlery to eat his cake with. Such a shame as the pub is lovely.

Went for a sunday lunch on a very cold day . The staff were lovely and the food was delicious it was just unfortunate that we were sat right by the back door which was opened every two minutes by people coming in and out . It was freezing and it would have been nice if the wood burner next to us had been lit . When i book again will def ask for a different seating. Otherwise the roast was really delicious and the staff were really nice and attentive considering how busy they were

Completely changed from what it used to be, food incredibly over priced and rubbish servings. Was made clear there was one chicken roast left and when it came to ordering it was still free so I asked for it then half a hour later a waiter came over and said sorry but just as you were looking at the avalibility someone else was too so your have to have somthing else. If I knew this earlier I would have left the restraunt as I'm a fussy eater. It took so long for a waiter/waitress to come over and we spent over a hour waiting for out bill! Over a hour waiting on food too and our drinks were only filled half up and when asked for a jug of water the lady said yes but never brang it. Defiantly would not reccomend it!!
