Contribuiți la feedbackFor our meal, my partner and I ordered the salt beef sandwich and a steak. The salt beef sandwich was outstanding—the bread was soft yet had a crisp crust, and the beef was tender and flavorful. The tangy dill pickles added a perfect touch to the overall taste. While the scotch fillet was a bit more ordinary, it was still good and didn't detract from our experience. The service was impeccable throughout our visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed a leisurely lunch before exploring more of Prahran Market.
Inside, however, was a tranquil oasis, contrasting the excitement outside. The decor featured sleek lines and bold artwork, with a particular favorite being the image of a female Ned Kelly. The cocktail menu caught our attention for its uniqueness; Kellie chose the Lemon Three Ways, which offered a delightful tartness. I opted for a lesser-known beer, the mid-strength Sunshine Rainbows Sour Saison from Boatrocker Brewery. I’m starting to develop a taste for sour beers, which are anticipated to be quite popular this summer. This one was refreshingly citrusy and easy to drink, making it a strong contender for my go-to session ale. The food presentation was impressive, especially the oysters, which looked absolutely delicious. I’ll need to return soon to expand this review and share more about the tempting menu options.
I had a lovely dinner here in anticipation of Prahran Market's annual cheese festival. Each cheesy dish was more delightful than the last. Although these dishes may not be featured on the regular menu, they highlight the thoughtfulness, care, and creativity that the chef brings to everything he makes. This quality is sure to shine through in any dish you choose. Additionally, the spacious venue is perfect for groups and semi-private events.
The talented team at Wilson Market delighted and pleased with every course. Think Asparagus vol au vent served with Gentle Goat cheese, hazelnuts and béarnaise, Pork Belly with Yering Camembert, courgette and smoked sauce and our personal favourite – Red Mullet with Bulls Eye persilliade, peas and broad beans and to finish, a thoroughly modern and enticing dessert of Fromage Frais, honey, rose and rye.
On a random Tuesday we decided to pop into Wilson Market for a lunch date and shared every dish as we like to do. <br/ First came the Charred Hiramasa Kingfish with lemon threeways- lemon foam and two types of lemon curd (the whiter one being the lemon pith which I absolutely loved! sesame and sea vegetables. I’ve never had sea vegetables before and it was interesting. Some of them tasted like a cross between grapes and cavier. <br/ <br/ Secondly we had miso cured ocean trout tarator, apple chilli jam, aromatic broth which was really delicious but the broth was luke warm and it always weirds me out to have anything a bit luke warm with seafood instead of piping hot or cold. I would like to see steam coming out of the jar as they pour but perhaps this is not how it’s served (and also just a personal preference of mine . <br/ <br/ <br/ Kangaroo Tartare, creme fraiche, radish. It’s been a long time since I’ve had tartare with my aim to reduce my meat intake but when my partner said it was amazing I couldn’t resist trying it. I was worried the kangaroo might be a bit strong in flavour but it was really beautifully presented, the meat was tender and perfectly seasoned served with crispy radish and baguette slices and creme fraiche finished it all nicely. I loved the variety of textures and flavours. Meat dishes are hard to win me over but this was spectacular and a 5. <br/ <br/ Thrice cooked chips with aioli didn’t really taste thrice cooked as I wanted a brilliant crunch but that only happened with some. <br/ <br/ We shared the salt baked celeriac, kale, Caramelised buttermilk and seeds. I was hoping this dish would blow me away but lacked a bit of flavour compared to the entrees. A good amount of crispy kale and seeds and the celeriac was cooked ok but overall tasted a bit plain to me. <br/ <br/ The service was great and I loved that it was quiet for lunch. My partner loved it and we would probably come back and just try a different main. <br/
