We booked a time slot a 2pm and when we arrived our table was ready with all the social distancing and track and trace to fill in. The selection of roasts were Pork,Beef,Lamb and chicken. I ordered the lamb and Jacqui ordered the beef. Not long after our food arrived piping hot. Loads of well cooked veg to accompany the food and a gravy boat! I must say that both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and booked to come the following Sunday. What more can you say. The staff are warm and welcoming and stock a good range of beers and two or three real ales. Food 11 out of 10.
My wife and I are regulars at the Jolly sailor and have never been disappointed with our food Sunday lunch at this venue is fabulous. Excellent service £8.95 for a large portion of tasty meat and fabulous veg and gravy. Real ale served at the correct temperature
Very friendly, always a pleasant time at the Jolly, most items on the menu are very good, I particularly like the lamb, cooked perfectly. Small pub, good selections.
5 of my family were seated in this traditional old pub which has two eating food rooms and a small bar.We were attended to by staff who were professional in their hospitality. The main meal came with meat, roasties and Yorkie with the mash, turnip, carrots.cabbage and cauliflower cheese in two separate serving bowls and the crackling.Everything was piping hot and the meat was obviously hand carved and very generous portions. The portions of vegetables was also very generous. All agreed that the meal was great value with great service from staff. There is seating outside where customers were drinking and having dinner, the weather was complying this day. There is craft beer along with a selection of pub thirst quenchers. There is a step at the door so it might be difficult for wheelchairs. The toilets were clean. There is parking nearby. The seating outside is functional and in the sun all afternoon. The traffic on the coast road can be busy which can be annoying but chatting you soon forget it. I would book to ensure a table at you’re required time on Sundays but meals are available during the week, phone for weekday service. Overall an enjoyable relaxed meal at competitive prices. I live in Whitburn and this review is how my family agreed was accurate on our visit.
Popped in for a drink out on a walk with my partner. Having been a few years since I visited It is a traditional old style pub, menu looked nice also. The inside looks a little dated and not much changed probably since years ago but had the old pub style feel about it. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We sat outside for a drink, good range of drinks and prices average. Could do with a bit of a refresh but nice for a stop to grab a drink. Only thing that bugged me is we sat outside, and one of the staff came out on a break to have a cigarette break and sat at the same table, I have no issue with people smoking but not particularly when I am sitting at the same table as we don't smoke, just think it is courtesy to ask.
