She didn't smile once and told us we had to leave by 11:30 for lunch. While the service was not an issue, her tone could have been much friendlier. It's a shame, as it's a charming place.
I had been eagerly anticipating dining at this restaurant for a long time. I made a reservation for my family of 6 people. We were seated at a table near the kitchen, but unfortunately, it seemed like we were being ignored. While we watched other families come and go, our service was slow. The soup starter was decent but nothing extraordinary. The beef main course was a surprise as it was very rare but quite tender. However, when my sister-in-law asked for her beef to be cooked more, it was replaced with overcooked beef, which was not what she requested. The meal only included roast potatoes and cabbage, lacking other vegetables like carrots. The cauliflower cheese was tasty but the orange cheese was a bit odd. The dessert was okay, with my rhubarb fool resembling a fancy angel delight. Despite my sister-in-law requesting no blue cheese on her cheeseboard, it was still served with blue cheese on it. When she asked for it to be removed, the waitress simply took it off, leaving a lingering scent on the other cheeses. We explained why we didn't eat the cheese, but the waitress seemed uninterested. Overall, we felt abandoned and disappointed with the experience; it did not live up to its promised award-winning status. The food was mediocre, not worth the price, and aside from one young waitress, the service was lacking.
I went to The Granery at Weston Park for Mother's Day with my daughter and husband, and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. The starter was decent, but the mains were a complete disaster. My beef and my daughter's chicken arrived at our table cold, and when my beef was reheated, it turned out to be full of gristle and impossible to chew. The roast potatoes were hard and tasteless, the cabbage was undercooked, and the chicken was dry and overcooked. It was a terrible dining experience and not worth the £40 per person price tag. I won't be returning anytime soon.
Went with a friend for lunch. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. We both had mussels which were tasty. Coffee was excellent. It was a good experience all round but we, thought the wine cost, £19.50 for 2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc, 175 ml, was excessive. They get 6 glasses of that measure out of a standard bottle which comes to £57 total. Not bad for a bottle that probably cost about £7. We would have had another glass each if it had not been so pricey. We understand fully the costs associated with running a hospitality business but maybe such prices are counter productive.
Booked an igloo for my mums 60th birthday food and service were amazing can’t recommend it enough. Special thanks to Nick who made the day even more special going above and beyond. Thank you so much.
