The Gateway Coffee Shop

On Wednesday, November 16th, my son and I visited the café after attending the Poppins play group. I had requested a specific table next to the window and the lego table, due to my son's sensory issues. However, when we arrived, we found that the reserved sign had been removed and other customers were seated at the table. I spoke to a staff member who had removed the sign, but she showed no concern or willingness to rectify the situation. With no other available tables, we had to leave. My son was very upset and confused as to why we had to leave without having lunch. As someone who has worked in hospitality for over 12 years, I was shocked by the poor service we received. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

I visit this restaurant nearly every year when I visit friends. It is clean and well-maintained, though a bit expensive - £1.50 for a can of soda?! They have kids' toys available, which is great, but they are extremely dirty and could use replacing. It's a nice place with an inclusive working environment, which is fantastic. However, the presence of lazy parents and unruly kids can sometimes spoil the experience.

This cafe is tucked away and private, making it charming and welcoming despite its cramped size. The service is amazing, with plenty of smiles and cheerful words. The staff works together efficiently, and the food is excellent. The standout for me is the coffee, which I find to be better than some well-known chains. It is always presented beautifully and never disappoints. Overall, this cafe is outstanding and worth a visit, even if you have to make a detour to stop by.

Calling into the Gateway Coffee Shop for lunch today was special. The staff were so cheerful and obliging. The order was a simple one but it was served wth care and good presentation. The whole coffee shop was alive with customers enjoying a snack or cuppa. Although the staff were really busy, they still took time to talk with the customers. The location is ideal, just on the edge of town and close to the old railway track now a nature trail. The Gateway is a good place to have a break while hiking or to finish off your stroll/hike. It is always special to see families enjoying their time at the coffee shop. Do recommend you make a visit and discover this oasis of refreshment yourselves. GlobalNomad37

Ideally situated between Ninesprings country park and the town centre. The Gateway Coffee shop serves excellent coffee and light lunches and you are guaranteed a warm welcome from the lovely staff. Also there is seating area outside for those sunnier days. If you’ve not been there before I would thoroughly recommend it .... Go on give it a try, what have you got to lose?
