The Angel - South Somerset

We often call in after shopping, good coffee and lovely home made cakes and also friendly and interesting staff .

Not just a cafe, The Angel is a meeting place for all. The warm and friendly welcome extends beyond excellent coffee and cake and you find yourself conversing with strangers within no time and a sense that these ancient walls have always echoed with voices and laughter. The highlight of the year is the Easter Dawn Service in the garden followed by eggs and bacon in the cafe wonderful!

I stopped by The Angel while at the Langport Fair and had a delightful experience. The homemade cake was delicious and the cup of tea was perfect for warming us up. Definitely worth a visit.

We stopped for cake after a walk and were pleased with the generous portions of delicious cake and the wide variety of options. The staff was very friendly and we appreciated the indoor and outdoor seating options.

The Angel, a former pub, was bought a few years ago by the Langport Church Community Trust. The Trust has since renovated the Grade 2 listed building and turned it into a community centre where a range of activities and facilities are available to all. The main downstairs area has already been renovated and developed into the Angel Cafe open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10.00am 4.00pm, Saturdays 10.00am 1.00pm. The Cafe offers a wide variety of simple ‘home cooked’ treats and lunches to suit your whim and fancy. We plumped for the Somerset cheddar Ploughmans. A massive and generous portion of excellent local cheese. The cafe also runs monthly Cambodian Feast Nights and several times a year they serve The Big Breakfast on a Saturday morning. You really need to try the Angel for yourself!
