On Friday, the SLA suspended the restaurant's liquor license for openly defying the Governor's Executive Order aimed at stopping the spread of the coronavirus. "These directives are not merely suggestions; they are mandatory, and the SLA will take immediate action to protect public health against the ongoing pandemic," SLA Chairman Vincent Bradley stated. The SLA has charged the restaurant with multiple violations, including non-compliance with Cuomo's order and failure to oversee the premises adequately. They will begin the process of permanently revoking the restaurant's license. Efforts to reach the restaurant's owners on Friday were unsuccessful. The New Oriental Guyana Restaurant was one of two city establishments cited for allowing patrons to gather on their premises on Wednesday. In a separate incident, Brooklyn police issued criminal court summonses to two men at Dick and Jane's, a bar in Fort Greene, for refusing to leave the premises. Both were charged with disorderly conduct and failing to disperse. The vast majority of restaurants in the city are abiding by the rules. Officials reported that on Thursday night, police inspected 5,242 bars, clubs, and restaurants. Of those, 3,838 were found to be closed, while the others were operating in compliance with Cuomo's order, providing food and drinks solely for pickup or delivery.
The restaurant wasn't very crowded, and the service could be more customer-friendly.
This is my second time visiting, and I absolutely love it! The food is fantastic, and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommend!
A quiet and wonderful place to relax
