Macdonald Tickled Trout - South Ribble

There are numerous hotels available in this area, but I would strongly advise against choosing this particular one. The hallways reeked of cheap carpet cleaner with a musky odor. The menu was limited, and the food served was unappetizing. Additionally, there was a lack of breakfast items available. Despite making a complaint, it was never addressed by the staff.

For our Christmas gathering, we had a table booked for a sit-down meal and a tab behind the bar. Unfortunately, the serving staff seemed uninterested and were rude. There were mix-ups with the dishes, and the attitude when we raised concerns was dismissive. The bar closed for nearly an hour while food was being served, leaving people without drinks. While a brief closure for food service is understandable, closing for an hour was inconvenient.

The food at this restaurant is delicious, and the rooms are excellent and very clean. The beds are very comfortable. We were welcomed by a friendly man at reception, check-in was very easy. The waitresses in the dining area were kind and helpful, and the breakfast in the morning was amazing. We will definitely be coming back again.

Seemed good stopover on journey to Scotland BUT problem arose. First offered a horrible stuffy room with wardrobe door hanging off the runners. Room scruffy smelly and general not acceptable. Got hold of receptionist and stated firmly that the room was not habitable. After a 15 minute talk he found another room despite telling is nothing was available

Don’t expect too much from your stay here. We arrived and on entering our room were nearly knocked out by the smell of smoke. One positive was the receptionist changed our room immediately. Rooms are very dated. Our bed was exceptionally lumpy. But the room was clean which having read other reviews we we’re grateful for! We checked out at 1:30am on our last night due to noise coming from an event in the conference room. Stay somewhere else if you can.
