Crown Carvery The Farmer's Arms

Unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience! I visited this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday for the carvery. Like other reviewers, my initial impression was that everything looked quite run-down. The atmosphere felt dirty and the staff, aside from one friendly colleague who greeted and seated us, seemed unhappy and unfriendly. The food was disappointing as well. The beef was tough, the stuffing was dry and almost inedible, the few vegetables on offer were barely warm. The gravy was watery and unappetizing. I will not be returning and I cannot recommend this place to others, I'm sorry!

Birthday visit with my partner. Been many times before — and usually delighted, but this time the veg. was cold/ lukewarm, the mash had large hard lumps in it, and the meat had loads of (off-putting) gristle in it. Don’t know why, but the table was terribly sticky and the chairs we were shown to were ripped and threadbare (we swapped them ourselves for better ones). The staff were still excellent, but the overall experience was a birthday let down……

We have visited the Farmers Arms many times over the past few years party of 4) and the standards are getting worse on a weekly basis. The condition of the restaurant both externally and internally is very poor and the men's toilets not seen the ladies) is disgusting with constant leaks in various areas including cubicles and generally very very tatty. The food quality is not good and at peak times they keep running out of food in the self service area. The staff are generally friendly but there doesn't seem enough of them to ensure customers get a good service. The company has let the property fall into disrepair which is such a shame as it is in a nice area. If it doesn't address these problems soon it will lose a lot of customers

Meal was mediocre , serving of meat was reasonable . veg was luke warm and dried up and very poor selection, dried up stuffing, bullet sprouts, rock hard hard roasties. mash and cauli cheese reasonable poor value on cauli cheese.

I went to a restaurant for a family birthday on New Year's Day, and our experience was ruined by a rude and dismissive small blonde bartender. She was working when we arrived and did nothing to make us feel welcome. She seemed annoyed when we placed our orders and we had to repeatedly ask for straws and lemon with our drinks. I believe that a smile and good manners cost nothing. This was the worst service I have ever experienced there, as the staff is usually friendly and accommodating. The food is always good, but this bartender was just terrible. Other customers also mentioned how rude she was. She is the only staff member that I have never tipped. Stone House, please consider replacing her.
