Contribuiți la feedbackDecided to try Rhody Joe's last Saturday with some friends and I am glad I did! The atmosphere was great as was the decor. It was fun and young, you could tell that it was a place meant for URI students to hangout. I found that there were plenty of TV's to watch the Bruin's on and a live band playing which was fantastic. Our service was quick and the food was delicious. You can definitely tell that Rhody Joe's is part of the Chelo's family and Chelo's has never disappointed me! I would definitely love to go back to try their $5 burger Thursdays or to utilize their pool tables! If you're in the area definitely give it a try!
I have been here a few times, and the food is typical Chelo's fare: not great, but not bad. The real tragedy with this restaurant is the management. The service is horrendous, and there's no support for staff. No one wears a uniform (unless you count floral underwear as pants), so it's difficult to ask for help when you can't locate your server. Tonight, we stopped in for what was supposed to be a quick bite, and a drink. We should have sat at the bar. Our waiter became overwhelmed with a large party, and no one around him would help him. We sat and waited 15 minutes for him to return with our check. He never came. I had to go fetch the hostess because the only managers I saw were one who was messing with the temperature, and (presumably) one who delivered food to a table next to us, and then returned to the kitchen while biting his nails. So gross. I don't understand how a place that operates so poorly stays in business. I worked for Chelo's years ago, and this behavior/service would be unacceptable. I get that they are going for a different atmosphere, but professionalism should exist in every business. Our bill was over $55 for 2 drinks, 2 chowders, and 2 apps. Not cheap. This is not the first time we had a terrible experience, and we will not return.
Went here on a trip to URI. It was fine. It's a pub geared toward college students. We all liked our meals. Very good Mozzarella sticks and wings. I got a Cobb salad and it was large and full of fresh ingredients. My husband got a burger that had bacon and pineapple and he also said it was very good. We also had the clam fritters. I felt they were salty but others felt they were fine. They are large, so when you think you want 12 get 6! We would go again because our daughter is a college student and she loves it.
I 'm not sure what happened to Rhody Joe 's....but I used to really like it. We went recently and had an absymal time. The bartenders were pretty clueless, we were sitting on the back bar and had to flag them down after sitting there for 15 minutes. Another couple had the same experience, they just don 't turn around and see you....which is partly restaurant design but partly on them. Then they made a specialty cocktail which was really undrinkable. Replaced it with beer which was good. My drink I 'd asked for lime, which I had to ask for 3 times before I got it. We ordered chicken wings which were just not good, not cooked well and super greasy...ugh. And we ordered calamari which was fair, not very hot, but okay. All in all was just Meh....they can do better. My guess is that they need to hire some professional bartenders and professional cooks and not just college kids.
This establishment had to fight to earn every star I'm giving it. My experiences in Joe's have been all over the place. Orders have been messed up or simply missed. Two of the the three times I've eaten there, I suffered stomach illness the following morning. My friend I dined with drew a similar fate as well. The food is average at best, and a little greasy Which can be good or bad depending on what ya get). It's not all bad. 2 dollar domestic drafts is a nice deal. Several flat screens make this place ideal for game watching. The last time I attended there was some live music, which was a little loud but entertaining. The food usually comes out fairly quick and the portions are usually favorable lots of curly fries). If you're looking for a place to go eat a quality meal, DO NOT attend Joe's. If you're looking for a place to go watch a game, shoot some sh*t with the boys, or just kill time, consider Joe's.
