Enjoyed the very recent ale festival though,to be honest,it was too busy outside and deliciously cooler inside.
I booked the WATERTON ARMS for the reception following my mother's funeral. I had never been there before so I was a bit nervous, but there was no need to worry. It was absolutely perfect! We had access to the dining area and enjoyed a hot and cold buffet. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, and the food was delicious. It's a fantastic place for a gathering. I highly recommend it and will definitely book again for our next big event.
The experience at this village pub was one of the worst I have ever had. My friends and I went there to remember a close friend who had recently passed away. However, for the second time on a Thursday night, the pub only had one person working behind the bar, despite it being extremely crowded. This meant that we had to wait for a long time to be served, as the lone bartender tried to serve everyone. Frustrated, our group of seven decided to leave and go to The Thirsty Giraffe nearby, where we received much better service. As we were leaving, I politely told the bartender that we were not willing to wait another 10 minutes for a second drink and would be going elsewhere. I was disappointed when she gave me a rude glare instead of apologizing. Her lack of professionalism and unfriendly demeanor left a bad impression on me and my friends. We will not be returning to this pub and will choose to drink elsewhere in the future. The bartender failed to provide a welcoming or enthusiastic customer service experience, and it was clear that she was not happy having to work alone. Overall, the service was terrible, and I will not be going back.
I attended a friend's christening at this restaurant. When I reached the front of the food line, I realized there were no plates available. I waited for someone to come out of the kitchen, and when they did, they rudely asked me what I was waiting for. I explained there were no plates, and they angrily responded that they had already given out all 20 plates they were supposed to. I pointed out that they had just put out a new tray of sandwiches, but without plates to serve them on. After reluctantly bringing out 5 more plates, they told me that was all I was getting. Myself and others in line were shocked by their behavior, especially since the pub was not busy at the time of the incident. I felt embarrassed and disappointed by the terrible attitude displayed by the staff.
