I have to admit, when we first arrived and noticed that there were almost as many children as there were adults, I was a bit concerned. However, my worries quickly disappeared as it became clear that these children were well-behaved and their parents had taught them proper restaurant etiquette. The cozy atmosphere created by the log fires added to the cheerful ambiance on a cold January day.
Another fantastic midweek lunch. I was pleased to see that the excessive garlic from my last visit is no longer an issue. The menu and staff were both excellent.
The foods was absolutely amazing and the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend it. I certainly would go back!
The Tickell family took the pub over in the 60's..It was originally called The Coach and Horses The Squire of Whittlesford who was the owner of this place over 40 years would turn in his grave. The whole historic feel of the place has been destroyed Food was mega expensive and would say not up to the job ! Just another chain using the location and history for serving up bland meals for extremely high prices.
My husband and I went on a date night to this restaurant. Everything was perfect. Our waiter, Joe, was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food was amazing - the beef blade, venison (from the specials menu), and sticky toffee pudding were all delicious. The atmosphere was warm and cozy with a great energy. We are already making plans to return. This was the best meal we've had in a long time.
