We asked our host at the bed and breakfast for a dinner suggestion, mentioning our preference for pubs over upscale restaurants. She recommended The Wheatsheaf. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. It was just what we were looking for!
This is our favourite restaurant. They are always accommodating no matter what and can always produce a really nice meal in a relaxed environment. I can’t really fault the place. They have a small beer garden at the from and you can eat there, it’s really lovely. The food has always been good value and really well cooked. The people are just so nice and friendly that even my hubby, who is autistic and struggles with social things sometimes, feels comfortable and welcome. Great value for money and I wholly recommend a trip.
This is a centuarys old inn . Lovely garden to the side great on a summers day. The lounge bar is lovely old world charm with traditional thick walls and an open log fire. The staff are friendly efficient and add to the experience. The menu is varied and the quality of food is good for a pub come restaurant. Ingredients are fresh well prepared and nicely presented. The deserts are a real crowd pleaser and vary by the day. Good selection of wines and spirits all at a reasonable price. Expect to spend £25 per head with drinks etc mains are around the £8 15 range. In summary it is always a pleasure to visit.
1st visit in 5 years or so. Still love the chicken dishes but was sorry to see they are no longer serve with sweet potato mash. Carrots were lovely though but can't say the same for the green beans. Slightly undercooked and tasteless.
