Contribuiți la feedbackI had a good stay last night. September 12, 2017 The hotel and restaurant are still open, there are five guest rooms and a dining room serving breakfast lunch and dinner. The hosts are helpful and friendly. This place is definitely worth a visit.
This is a review of the restaurant, not the hotel. I arrived for lunch at Souppes-sur-Loing on foot, after a walk along the GR 13 trail from the town of Dordives via the historic but lively town of Château-Landon and a vertigineous if not perilous crossing of the Loing Canal and River over an abandonned narrow-gauge railway trestle. The sign [see photograph] says everything you need to know about A la Vieille Halle. The same family has been serving traditional and varied cuisine for over sixty years! Since it was a warm, spring day, I preferred to sit ouside in the shade of a pergola whose roof was covered in greenery [see photograph]. The staff also makes the guest feel welcome at the bar and dining rooms inside. I could have saved money by ordering the daily prix fixe menu, but decided to order à la carte. Imaginang [correctly] that the portions would be copious, I skipped a starter and ordered a main course, filet mignon de porc [slices of thinly sliced pork roast] in a sauce normande [thick cream and mushrooms] accompanied by real, home-made fries. A draft Affligem ale was refreshing after my long walk. I like chocolate profiterolles and couldn 't resist ordering a portion for dessert. The check came to 30.60 euros, including a half-liter of sparkling Badoit water. You are not going to be disappointed at A la Vieille Halle--they 've been doing things right and they 'll continue doing things right. Definitely recommended.
