La Michoacana - Sonoma

I was out picking up a toothbrush since I had forgotten mine during a recent trip to the area, and it turned out to be the perfect opportunity to visit La Michoacana. I had noticed this place on a previous visit and was eager to try it. My favorite dessert in this wine region is the rice pudding at Bistro Jenty in Yountville, so I decided to sample the rice pudding paleta here. It did not disappoint at all! It was a delightful treat for a warm summer evening. I highly recommend it! The service was quick and friendly as well!

It seems that Boyes Hot Springs is a fantastic spot for great Mexican cuisine. After enjoying a lunch at El Molino Central (check out my review), I couldn't resist trying some Mexican ice cream. So, I took a short 10-minute walk to La Michoacana, and I'm so glad I did. I opted for the Mexican caramel ice cream, which was incredibly creamy and bursting with caramel flavor. It was delightful! Even though I was still quite full from lunch, I had to indulge in a bit of Quality Control. I decided to get a chongos (custard popsicle) to go, and it was just as delicious. If you have more self-control than I do and aren’t traveling too far, they’ll even wrap it in foil for you. While I probably wouldn’t make a special trip from San Francisco just for this spot, I will definitely return to La Michoacana after another visit to El Molino Central. If there's even a hint of space left in my stomach, I'll be back for more of their delicious ice cream or paletas—or both! The service was friendly, and there are a couple of tables where you can sit and enjoy your treat.

This place has the best ice cream, and the staff is fantastic. The Mexican vanilla is particularly exceptional—I’ve been coming back for it for about five years!
